Michael Bruce & Austin Harrison win FSEARA Rd2
The Florida State Electric Auto Racing Association (FSEARA) hosted their 2nd race in their 7 race series in FL at Strickland RC Raceway. This track is famous for its tire wear and so tire strategy is the key to win and many racers conserve their limited control tires in qualifying. The new tires only last one qualifier, which mean you only have one chance to set your fastest time. Most racers end up saving the 2nd set of tires for the final and it helped create some fast & exciting final to watch at this event.
In Open Modified, Michael Bruce was able to put an impressive run in his 1st qualifier setting the pace to beat after a bad day of practice. Michael Bruce’s Revtech power Tamiya 417 looking good on Sunday gapping the overall TQ with 2 second over Austin Harrison, the winner of the last FSEARA race.
In the A Final, Michael Bruce had a clean start while 2nd qualifier Austin had a issue, hitting the pipe in the second corner letting Felix Law take over 2nd. During the 1 min mark Felix Law made a mistake letting Michael extend his lead to 3 second, while Austin put on an impressive run coming back from dead last. At the 3 minute Mark, Austin tried to put a pass on Felix, but it ended up to be a disaster, sending Felix flying off the track. Austin show his sportsmanship by letting Felix recover and the show continued. In the last min of the A final, Felix was able to drive his Hot Bodies TCX closing the gap between him & Michael, but in the end Michael still won the race by 1 second over Felix while Austin finished 3rd 2 second behind.
In Pro Stock, Troy Schafer driving the Team Associated TC6 had a good weekend at Daytona. His well balanced TC6 continues the domination in the qualifier on Sunday. With the 27 lap run, He was able hold the TQ, away from last year stock champ Dave Bowser & last race winner Austin Harrison.
In the A Final, Troy Schafer started to extend the lead, while Dave Bowser battled against Austin for 2nd. At the 1 min mark, Austin made a small mistake letting Dave take over 2nd hunting down Troy. At the 2 min mark, Troy made a mistake letting Dave close the gap to .5 sec. Two laps later, a small hit from Dave caused Troy to spin out, Austin took advantage, passing both of them for 1st. Without waiting for Troy, Dave quickly tries to catch up to Austin. At the 3min 30sec mark Dave made a move on Austin. At the 4 min mark, the pace of the 2 drivers started to slow down due to tire wear and Austin started to catch Dave again. The drama begin around 4min 20sec when 2 drivers going down the back straight with Austin taking an inside line & Dave drift out slightly, Austin sent Dave flying of the track. It was just too close to call, but the race continues. Dave joins the race again in 3rd place behind Troy. At the Last min, Dave was able to catch troy, having an intense battle for 2nd. In the end, Dave wasn’t able to make the move and finished 3rd overall, Troy finished 2nd & Austin winning the 2nd round of the FSEARA.
