More Tamiya news from the Tokyo Hobby Show
Following the release of first images of Tamiya’s upcoming TRF418 touring car tamiyablog.com captured some of the other Tamiya Fall 2013 news. First up is the highly anticipated 2013 Egress, the re-release of the iconic 1989 4WD buggy based on the Avante. The 2013 edition will feature some updated parts in order to improve the rigidity and durability of the drivetrain and suspension allowing to use modern motor and battery technology to power the vehicle. The kit will include updated ball differentials, universal driveshafts, new rear suspension mounts and some other refinements as well as the original Egress body shell and an updated decal sheet. There is no release date yet but expect the kit to hit the shops well before Christmas.
Also on show is the DB01RR 4WD buggy, Tamiya’s latest race-worthy version of the belt-driven club racing chassis. The kit received a new tub chassis that allows the use of straight-type LiPo battery packs, it comes with big bore aeration dampers and fluid-filled gear differential units. Also included are a slipper clutch set, front and rear universal driveshafts and aluminium suspension mounts.
Tamiya’s entry-level DF-03 kit also received a make-over and will soon come as updated MS version. The shaft-driven buggy will include a huge amount of performance and durability enhancing parts such as universal driveshafts, a heat sink bar set, slipper clutch, aluminium oil-filled shocks, front one-way, hard turnbuckles, aluminium steering rod, high torque servo saver and many more. The kit is topped-off by a Dark Impact body shell with special decals designed by TRF driver Satoshi Maezumi.
On the on-road side of things Tamiya have the brand-new TB04 Pro 4WD touring car kit on show. The shaft-driven chassis with the somewhat unconventional traverse motor position comes with a good amount of option parts right out of the box as there are aluminium shocks, carbon fibre shock towers, anodised prop shaft, turnbuckles as well as pivot balls, shims and nuts. TRF416/417-compatible suspension parts complete the package.
