Hot Bodies introduce the long-awaited successor to the D4 buggy, the D413. The HB D413 first turned a wheel at the 2013 ROAR Nationals in the hands of Ty Tessmann and also makes an appearance at this week’s IFMAR World Championship in Chico, California to chase the 2013 title. Designed by star RC designer Torrance Deguzman, the D413 was made to create the toughest of platforms in the 4WD class while being highly convertible at the same time, allowing the racer to choose between the standard saddle-pack-in-the-rear and a shorty-on-the-right battery layout in order to optimise weight distribution. Another ground breaking feature is the 3-diff layout, previously only known from 1/8th buggies, that allows drivers to fine-tune the handling of the car using various diff greases, altering the steering, traction and corner handling of the D413.

The suspension is of a highly adjustable design that allows for quick geometry changes including roll-centre, kick-up, anti-squat, camber and toe using braces that mount directly to the bulkheads. Triangulated shock tower mounts do away with the breakage issues often associated with the D4 while newly designed 12mm big bore shock absorbers with dirt shields keep the buggy on the ground on rough tracks. The wishbones on the D413 are of a very innovative design that allows to use composite material or carbon fibre inserts in order to adjust the A-arm flex according to the track conditions. There is no release date yet but we keep you up to date as soon as more information arrive. In the meantime you can find more images of Ty Tessmann’s D413, equipped with Pro-Line’s upcoming Type-R body shell, in our Chassis Focus feature here.
