2014/15 Essex Winter Series – Announcement
The organisers of the Essex Winter Series are pleased to announce that the UK’s most popular Touring Car series will return later this year. Building on the success of last year, which saw the whole series sell out in record time, the organisers have released the details of the 2014-2015 championship. After discussions with drivers from across the series, the organising team have made a few changes for this season. For 2014-2015, EWS is pleased to announce that the new Ride REX30 will be the control tire. After seeing the success of the tire at the ETS championship and at the 2014 International Carpet Challenge the organisers hosted last year, Essex Winter Series is very happy to welcome Ride to the series.
The second change is to re-align the classes. Following the world-wide trend to move away from “boosted” speed controllers in the Stock class, EWS will run two classes in 2014-2015:
The Modified class will remain, and feature most of the UK’s top drivers competing on one of the world’s largest carpet tracks. Any motor from any of the BRCA approved lists may be used.
The Super Stock class for this year’s championship will be for 13.5 turn motors (from the BRCA list), with any Zero Timing / “Blinky” speed controller, and a maximum gear ratio. With this class being so popular across the rest of Europe and around the world, it is sure to provide close and competitive racing.
The Series will consist of five rounds, all one-day meetings:
Round 1 – 26 October 2014
Round 2 – 16 November 2014
Round 3 – 14 December 2014
Round 4 – 18 January 2015
Round 5 – 8 March 2015
Of course, the EWS will maintain the great atmosphere and organisation it has become known for and continue to attract racers of all ability from across the country and beyond. Entries will open on 1st September via www.CentralBooking.org, where further details and full rules can be found shortly.
