ORRCA Queensland Electric Onroad Titles – Report
The 2014 ORRCA Queensland Electric Onroad Titles where run at the regional holiday resort town of Hervey Bay in Queensland, at the last weekend of September. The date for the event is fixed to coincide with Australian school holidays in order to encourage juniors to participate, and it was great to see a number of young drivers racing in the event. Most drivers had travelled from Brisbane to take part, and there also were quite a few drivers from regional Queensland. Classes that are at the titles run are Modified, 13.5T and 21.5T electric all running on Sorex tires. The Modified class was won by a familiar winner of this event; Hot Bodies driver Jason Dorn (TQ), from Corey Broadstock (Xray) and Brad McDonald (Yokomo).
13.5T had experienced Scott Guyatt from Schumacher Australia taking the TQ and win with the improving young Xray driver Cooper Porter in 2nd, and Luke Harvey (Xray) in 3rd.
In 21.5 turn it was Schumacher driver Robert Tyler who TQ’d and won the class from youngsters Elliot Hollis (Tamyia) and Noah Gordon (Schumacher). The F1 demo class went to Englishman Ed Clark (Speed passion) who also grabbed the prestigious TQ. Duncan Vaughan (WRC) in 2nd and Michael Lee (Exotek) in 3rd rounded out the podium.
