Austin Woodyard wins at Winter Mid West Champs

The 2018 Big Car Winter Mid West Championship was held at The Ohio RC Factory over the weekend. In Open Nitro Truggy it was Mark Sousa with the TQ over Austin Woodyard and Mike Legue. However in the 30-minute A-main it was Austin Woodyard (Serpent) with the victory as he brought home the win with a 1-lap margin from Mike Legue (Tekno RC) while Mark Sousa (Xray) had to settle for 3rd overall.

British Off-Road Grand Prix – Report

The British Off-Road Grand Prix took place at the Centre:MK in Milton Keynes, UK this past weekend. A huge shopping complex in the centre of the UK, this was the third year on the trot an event has taken place here with the Reedy Race and GT12 World Championships in the previous two years. A fantastic opportunity for RC cars to interact hugely with the public. 165 entries in 2WD, 110 4WD and 20 in Short Course a truly massive turnout. 2WD started first and as expected the battle was between the leading three, Michal Orlowski, Neil Cragg and Lee Martin. Yokomo’s Lee Martin managed to TQ the last two qualifying rounds giving him the overall TQ position with Neil second and Michal third. The three legged finals saw Lee take the overall win with a strong display. Schumacher’s Michal jumped Neil after the three legs taking home second and Schumacher’s Tom Yardy 4th.

Stevens & Daniel win at Extreme R/C club race

Extreme R/C Raceway of Spring Hill, Tennessee held round four of their points series this past weekend with a total of 132 entries which made for super tight racing. New Team Associated signing, Caleb Stevens was able to take the win in 4WD Modified Buggy after a long fought battle with teammates Jeremy Daniel and Izriah Osborne in an overall great race. In 2WD Modified Buggy Caleb was able to take the TQ, but after a tight 4-way battle in the mains, he would finish 2nd behind Jeremy Daniel and in front of Zach Noia, making it another all-AE podium.

Fenix TC7.1 ARS 2 aluminium main chassis

Coming from Fenix and made for the Team Associated TC7.1 touring car is their new ARS 2 aluminium main chassis. It is of an updated design that still allows for easy ARS system use but it now also incorporates the possibility to adjust the pitch flex. The updated and black coated chassis features an “ARS 2” engraving for easy identification.

Stavanger Open Cup Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Stavanger Open Cup was hosted by the Stavanger Modelcar Club at their new 1000 square meter facility. Offering different tracks such an off-road track laid out with EOS and an on-road track laid out with ETS carpet, the facility also includes a drift track. For round 1 nearly 60 drivers signed in to race in the six different classes of 2WD Buggy, 4WD Buggy and Truck as well as 13.5T Touring, 21.5T Touring Junior and M-Chassis. To offer amble track time, one seeding practice was held followed by four qualifiers and triple A-mains. Intended as a fun race series especially for younger drivers the event also attracted Norwegian Champion, Nikolai Haheim to race in the Stock Touring class while the off-road class were lead by Junior World Champion Daniel Kobbevik. The two then had now problems to win their respective classes and so they swapped cars and tracks in the final A-mains, much to the entertainment of everyone.

Radtec T4 51mm double joint driveshaft set

Coming from Radtec and made for the Xray T4 series of touring cars is a 51mm premium steel double joint driveshaft set. The shafts are made from ultra-hard spring steel for improved wear characteristics with the machined wheelshafts further improving precision. Included in the set, that adds to the already existing 50mm and 52mm shafts, are two 5x10x3mm high-grade ball bearings.

Destiny RX-10SR aluminium main chassis plate

Destiny have announced the release of an aluminium main chassis plate for their new RX-10SR touring car. The item is machined from high-quality 7075-T6 aluminium and it comes with a dark surface coating for wear and looks. Furthermore the fully symmetrical chassis sports a Destiny logo on the bottom side for easy identification and it features chamfered edges to reduce chassis rubbing during cornering.

Davide Ongaro doubles at TLR Cup Italy

The Italian TLR Cup was held at the RC Landia facility in Scandiano, Italy this past weekend. In the 2WD class Davide Ongaro (Team Associated) and Giuseppe Fermi (Xray) battled for the overall TQ with the better end for Davide who would snatch the pole position for the triple A-mains in the end. Over in 4WD it was again Davide with the TQ, this time from Tekno RC’s Alex Zanchettin.
