Justin Fales doubles at ROAR Region 4 champs

Coined the Fuel National Warm-up, Warm-up race, the ROAR Region 4 8th scale Off-Road Championship was held over New Years’ Eve weekend having been rescheduled due to bad weather condition on the original date. With the race being held at Southside R/C Raceway in Lake City, Florida, this gave many local racers a glimpse at a chance to run 1/8th scale on the 2018 Fuel Nationals track. Luckily, the weather held out amidst cold mornings but warmed up during the day that gave the track surface a bit of extra grip. The layout was smooth and flowy with fantastic jump sections mixed with terrific off-camber turns making the layout a challenge on every lap.

SWorkz S12 & S14/104 series carbon slipper pads

Coming from SWorkz and made for the S12 and S14/104 series of 1/10th off-road vehicles is a 3-piece set of carbon fibre slipper clutch pads. They are made of high-quality fibre material and offer a two-sided design with one being flat and the other offering a machined turbo fan apperance. Using the pads will allow for finer slipper clutch adjustment, improved torque transfer and less fading during the run. The pads fit the S12-1 2WD and S14-2/S104 Evo 4WD vehicles.

Hexfly HX series 1/8th & 1/10th speed controllers

Hexfly announces the release of its new line of RC brushless electronic speed controllers for 1/8th and 1/10th scale electric vehicles. The ESCs are manufactured by Hobbywing and fit many different classes and scales of RC vehicles. Hexfly currently offers four different ESC models to choose from, the HEX10, HEX8, HEX6 6S, and HEX6 8S. While the HEX10-120 is perfect for all 1/10 scale monster trucks, stadium trucks, and short course trucks, it can also be used in cars and buggies. HEX8-150 is usable for all 1/8 scale trucks, touring cars, buggies, and truggies. The HEX6 for 1/6th scale vehicles comes in two different configurations, 6S or 8S. Each brushless ESC comes with necessary mounting and wiring hardware, which allows the consumers to solder on their own choice of battery connector. Wires, shrink tubing, mounting tape, and zip ties are all included with each ESC.

Jörn Neumann teams up with Schumacher

Schumacher Racing welcome multi-time former EOS, Reedy Race Champion and Worlds top qualifier Jörn Neumann to the team. Jörn has a racing pedigree of the highest order including most recently super strong performances at the Off Road Worlds in China and Schumacher are pleased to strengthen the off-road team with the German, alongside their long term and recently re-signed Michal Orlowski. Jörn’s first races will be the DHI Cup in Denmark and Reedy Race in the USA and he had the following to say:

I would first like to thank Robin, Mark, Trish and Norbert for this great opportunity to run for Schumacher. I am looking forward for a superb future with a fantastic team. Onto a successful 2018.

Robert Batlle Ninja-powered for 2018 and beyond

Following his split with 2017 engine suppliers Picco, Spanish 1/8th off-road super star Robert Batlle will run Ninja engines in 2018 and beyond. The Spaniard leaves behind a somewhat mixed season, however his 2017 campaign was crowned by a third European Championship title that he hopes to build on in 2018. Robert says:

VBC Racing FX18 Lightning formula car kit

VBC Racing have introduced their all-new FX18 Lightning 1/10th scale formula pan car kit. The vehicle utilises a new carbon fibre chassis with an updated design and a very narrow lower plate to prevent the chassis from scrubbing during hard cornering. New upper side plates build the base for the body mounts, side links and the tweak-free transverse battery mount. Adjustable battery stoppers allow for a front or rear battery position while a redesigned floating servo mount ensures equal left-right chassis flex. Other features include new composite upper link and steering link ball cups, front aluminium steering knuckles, the TBBS-P progressive centre shock as well as 7075-T6 aluminium body height adjusters. Also new are an updated power pod design that allows the use of an optional motor cooling fan, a new rear pivot and the kit is rounded out by Mon-Tech Racing front and rear wings.

Thilo Tödtmann wins at German EP on-road regional

Last weekend the second round of the German electric on-road regionals, a qualification race for the German nationals, took place in Grossauheim near Frankfurt. In the Formula class Shepherd‘s own Thilo Tödtmann took the TQ honours and in the finals two wins in A1 and A2 secured Thilo the overall victory, with the fight for the runner-up spot being undecided until the last final. With a clean run Markus Specko defended his position and took the overall 2nd place with Andreas Giesa obtaining the final podium spot making it an all-Shepherd podium.

Bezerk RC YZ-4 SF slipper eliminator

Coming from Bezerk RC and made for the Yokomo YZ-4 SF is a slipper eliminator. The set includes parts to do away with the slipper clutch in favour of a fixed, simpler driveline which makes for a lighter drivetrain for stock racing classes. The design allows to use standard “on-road” 48 pitch or 64 pitch spur gears and included in the set are the parts marked in red, a spur gear plate, a small spacer, a stepped spacer to fit just inside the bearing and a spacer to replace the spring.
