Kaja Novotny dominates Open Challenge Rd1

The opening round of the Czech Open Challenge Winter Series was held in Prague on a fast track with big jumps. Despite some transponder issues in Q1 Kaja Novotny took the overall 2WD TQ after coming out fastest in Q2 and Q3 and he would also take the top qualifier position in the 4WD category after making a clean sweep and winning all three qualifiers in style.

Traction 2016 Rd2 – Report

Sunday saw the second round of Traction 2016 at Swifts Raceway, Sheffield, UK. With an increased entry list, the series is really starting to gain momentum. The round also saw some LMP’s join the field including a new chassis from Schumacher Racing. The Eclipse is Schumacher’s return to the LMP class and this would be the first big event the car had entered into. There was a lot of talk round the pits as to how well the new contender would perform with its GT12 style layout. Just like round 1 there was a generally relaxed atmosphere in the pits which encouraged even more friendly banter than usual. In Traction style the track was again fast a flowing to try and suit all the classes. Everything was set for another epic day.

Mach4 release new pre-glued 1/10th formula tyres

Italian brand Mach4 have new pre-glued 1/10th formula tyres available. According to Mach4 they utilise a unique rubber compound with the tyres coming pre-glued on black multi spoke wheels. The tyres are sold as pairs for the front and the rear and they are usable on all modern day 1/10th formula cars.

Miguel Matias crowned 2016 Portuguese Buggy champ

The final round of the Portuguese 1/8th Nitro Buggy national championship was held this past weekend. Unfortunately the 45-minute main final would be held in wet and muddy conditions and it was Miguel Matias who made the best out of the situation by taking he win some two laps in front of Goncalo de Melo while Carlos Duraes completed the podium in third. With the win Miguel snatched a 14th national title in his career.

Following yesterday’s introduction of the forthcoming Inferno MP9e TKI4 1/8th E-Buggy, Kyosho today released more detailed images of the company’s top-of-the-foodchain kit. The version 4 will include some subtle updates and changes previously available only with the nitro-powered TKI4 kit but now also EP racers can benefit of 2mm longer front A-arms, the updated +2mm roll centre front shock stay and upper arm mounts as well as an updated wing mount that allows to shift the wing up and down, forth and back. The kit is rounded out by an adjustable rear wing with additional wickerbill and it is set for a release this November.

Serpent GT Cup Rd5 – Report

The popular Serpent GT Cup series saw the running of round five this past weekend. As the racers get more and more used to the control class equipment, the lap times are getting faster every time and racing is getting even more exciting with the top racers being very close together in terms lap times and performance. In the ever growing Cobra GT Modified class, round five saw a new TQ holder. Hui China Ho was able to secure the top spot in front of series points leader Nelson Woo. With the fastest lap time only 0.1s apart, Hui managed to hold off a strong charge from Nelson, eventually winning the 40-minutes A-main while Nelson Woo had to settle for second. After qualifying sixth overall, veteran racer Quai Lo had a very strong race to finish third and to take the final podium spot.

Borkowicz & Mayo take wins at JC Indoor Nationals Rd4

Round four of the JConcepts Indoor Nationals was recently held at R/C Excitement in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. As Friday rolled on, more and more people showed up throughout the day to find the perfect setup for the start of seeding and heading into the qualifiers, everyone was battling it out to see who would earn the coveted pole position. In the prestigious 2WD Modified class, Jake Mayo showed his skill and speed once again by dominating three rounds of qualifying, earning him the pole position.

2016 Model Mountain Camp – Report

For the second year running the Model Mountain Camp event was held at Storefjell Hotell and Resort. A unique event for Norway the weekend sees both the Storefjell Sprint Touring race and a round of the “King of Nations” drift cup. This year the event had 114 entries from six countries including two foreign guests in the form of Yokomo’s development driver Matsuzaki Hayato and sales manager Aso Minoru. In the Spring Modified class Matsuzaki showed his world class skills and so he took an easy win with the fight being on for the remaining podium spots. Both Lars A. Andersen and André Roine really wanted those spots on the podium, but in the end it was Lars who took the runner-up spot behind Hayato. André, who had a serious crash in the second leg had to let his team mate Anders Mikkelsen by with the latter taking the final podium spot.
