ARC tease their new R8.3 chassis

ARC have teased their upcoming R8.3 1/8th competition on-road nitro chassis kit, set for release in January of 2021. Featuring an all new internal gear ratio, all new chassis, upper-deck and front-end bulkhead, the shock absorbers have also been redesigned for improved traction. New 2-speed shoes provide consistent and precise shifting and new steering blocks improve handling, especially in high traction. More details when we get them.

Smokem Racing ARC R12 RS chassis plate

Smokem Racing’s new RS chassis plate for the ARC R12 offers reduced scrub compared to the factory chassis. By removing the short arm suspension mounts, the RS design eliminates excess material from the profile that’s no longer required. The new RS chassis also moves the holes for the rear suspension blocks forward by 1mm which allows racers who use ARC’s R12 ATS system with parallel hinge pins to maintain the same wheelbase by using no shims in front of the suspension arms, something that cannot be achieved with the factory chassis without modifying the suspension arms. Meanwhile racers who run the fixed rear toe suspension can maintain their stock wheelbase by using 2mm of shims in front of the suspension arms instead of 1mm. The chassis is made from high quality 2.25mm thick carbon fibre.

Smokem Racing ARC R12 top deck

Smokem Racing’s new top deck for the ARC R12, claims to find the sweet-spot with an overall width that is in between the 2 factory top decks. They then smoothed out the profile for more consistent flex characteristics and added the V-SES top deck’s trademark V-shaped cross brace, optimally shaped in width and thickness to deliver firmer flex in its stock form. This cross brace can also be cut to increase flex, just follow the V-shaped lead-in with a Dremel. This ultimately delivers four possible top deck combinations in the one product, allowing racers to fine tune their R12 exactly to their liking.

Torpine R21 shorty LiPo holder set

New from Torpine for the ARC R21 is this shorty LiPo pack mount made from brass. Weighing close to 80g in total, each side is attached with 3 screws and can be finely adjusted to fit the shorty perfectly. If 80 grams of brass is too much they have also released two additional weights that mount directly to the motor mount with one weight (8g) on the right and the set of two weights (2x6g) on the left. The threaded holes for fixing the weights are already in the motor mount by default and the weight on the right has the thickness to serve as the inner stop for the LiPo.

ARC R12 flex adjustment plate

From ARC for their R12 touring car is this new optional flex adjustment plate allows racers to adjust rear chassis flex by adding or removing screws at the 6 available screw hole positions. Precision machined from brass the plate adds 16g towards the rear centre line of the chassis which enables further fine-tuning of the car’s handling characteristics through weight distribution.

ARC release new brass suspension blocks & springs

Coming from ARC are new brass suspension blocks for the R12 touring car as well as a progressive 20mm shock spring. Starting with the suspension blocks, the suspension hangers are useful option parts to adjust and fine-tune the weight distribution while maintaining a low centre of gravity. Available are FF, RF, FR and RR blocks all of which are machined of heavy brass material with the whole set adding up to 21.5g of weight. The blocks can be used completely or as a mix and match with the standard aluminium hangers to achieve the desired weight bias setting. Also new and made for the R12 are 20mm C2.5-2.8 progressive springs. The red-marked springs can be used front or rear depending on the track conditions.

ARC R12 SRS Super Response Servo

ARC have announced the release of their new SRS Super Response Servo specially designed for the use with the ARC R12 touring car. Developed and produced in collaboration with Savöx, the steering servo supports the Super High Response protocol that is available from high-end transmitters and it provides quicker response and a wider working angle on the R12 chassis. The ARC SRS utilises a short 5cm all-black servo lead for neat and clean wiring and the unique all-aluminium case incorporates a servo mount that allows racers to do away with the standard servo mount, ensuring a super low-profile design and a lower overall centre of gravity, all while allowing to scrub 9g of weight and the attachment of the servo 8mm closer to the centreline of the chassis. As for the specifications, the brushless motor servo pulls up to 9kg-cm of torque at a speed of down to 0.07 seconds.
