Awesomatix A800FX 1/10 front-wheel drive touring car

Following a couple of teaser images Awesomatix have finally unveiled their A800FX 1/10th scale front-wheel drive touring car kit. The somewhat revolutionary car is designed to offer optimised weight distribution combined with the lowest centre of gravity. The goal was to create a FWD car with easy changeable front/rear balance, which is one of the main setup adjustments for this class of cars. Inside the front bumper the designers integrated a 65g heavy steel insert which offers the possibility to add another 50g by placing five 10g round weights into the milled areas of bumper. Furthermore, the lower deck has plenty of additional holes for the mounting of Awesomatix’s standard 10g and 5g round weights.

Avid Awesomatix unsprung brass weights

Avid have introduced new unsprung brass weights for the Awesomatix A800 and A700 touring cars. The weights attach to the end of the front arms to give more on-power responsiveness, causing the car to feel more direct when coming out of the corners, almost feeling like it slingshots out. The radiused bottom keeps the weights from digging into the wheel on big hits.

RC Maker A800 GeoCarbon cam steering limiters

RC Maker has introduced the new GeoCarbon cam steering limiters for the Awesomatix A800 touring cars. Weighing in at only 0.2g for the pair, they provide a super LCG and lightweight adjustable option for limiting the car’s steering lock. Adjusting steering lock is an incredibly important tuning option, and one that is not simply done with reducing the dual rate on the transmitter, as the limiters provide a stopper which is a much more effective way of controlling the steering lock. The parts provide four different steering lock settings thanks to the offset cam style design, which allows locks ranging from 22 deg inside to 29 deg inside when run with #AM14LS, 1mm Ackerman +1 deg toe out – simply by loosening the main screw, rotating the plate and re-tightening the screw. The limiters fit all chassis configurations and servos and they are available now.

RC Maker Awesomatix damper O-ring tool

RC Maker have introduced their new damper O-ring tool for Awesomatix touring cars. It is a simple, yet effective tool that aids in seating the O-ring into the damper, without pressurising the damper. It allows all excess oil to flow around the tool and out of the damper, which is crucial to the smooth assembly with the P45R round damper rubbers. Not only does it seat the O-ring and allows the excess oil to flow, it also acts as a scoop to get the excess oil out of the area, which is unwanted there when pressing the bearing in. When twisted it will act as a paddle to remove the oil from the slot. The tool is made from high-quality carbon fibre and it is available now.

Awesomatix PSS Progressive Spring System

Awesomatix have introduced their new A800-PSS Progressive Spring System for their A800 and A700 range of electric touring cars. The set was designed to add 15 or 25 percent of progression into the originally linear action of the SPR01S and SPR01 springs. With the kit the initial action of the spring is softer at the beginning of the compression and becomes progressively stiffer when the suspension gets further compressed during the down travel of the car. Tests have shown that a PSS-equipped and properly set car becomes easier to drive and more consistent at low to mid traction conditions and especially on outdoor asphalt tracks. The set was successfully tested and used by Awesomatix team drivers at the past ETS in Vienna with all A-main drivers in the Modified and Pro-Stock classes having used the new system to improve the overall handling. Each set contains a pair of AT119, ST69-15, ST69-25, and P46R parts with two sets being needed to outfit a complete car. More details about the PSS system and its application can be found here.

RC Maker A800 long arm roll centre shim plate set

Coming from RC Maker is a new roll centre shim plate set for A800 cars using the optional long arms. Consisting of two different thicknesses of 0.5 and 1mm, the set allows tuning from 0.5 to 1.5mm which covers the normal range for Awesomatix cars. The plates also have a front and a rear, with cutouts to distinguish them, due to the hole spacing being wider in the front. They slide in without the removal of your screw, allowing to slide out the old and in the new in a matter of seconds. Once the plate is installed simply tighten as normal. The plates work in the outer as well as the inner positions and the central hole allows easy removal by inserting a 1.5mm driver and sliding them out from the top. The shims are only usable on A800 cars using the LA +9.0 and +8.0 arms and the set includes four 0.5mm and four 1.0mm thickness shims.
