Awesomatix A800FX FWD touring car – Prototype images

Awesomatix’s Max Mächler has released a couple of images of the company’s A800FX touring FWD prototype. The car builds on the A800X 4WD tourer, however a new chassis layout and belt-driven front wheel drive gearbox greatly change the appearance compared to the previous prototype that saw an unconventional “behind the front wheels” motor position. The new prototype is now a lot more up to date with current designs in terms of weight balance while the Awesomatix’s signature rotation dampers make for the very low overall centre of gravity that the original 4WD tourer takes profit of. The car is still in prototype stages with a lot of ideas still in the pipeline.

The former IFMAR World Championship finalist and 7-times French national champion will be a great addition to the always growing Awesomatix brand and team. He will attend at all major races including all ETS rounds, EFRA European Championship in Austria and IFMAR World Championship in South Africa. Loic has following to say about his change:

I’d like to thank Max and Oleg for the great opportunity to join the Awesomatix Factory Team. I felt it was the time for a change and Awesomatix was the only team I wanted to join. The previous and last results proved their car is one of the best on the market and their professionalism and continued R&D show this is a team to watch in the near future. I’m really looking forward to start working with my new teammates and achieve many good results for the team, my first race being the French Nats round 1 by the end of March. I’d also like to thank Team Yokomo for the wonderful last 7 years together and I wish them all the best for the upcoming season.

RC Maker Awesomatix suspension ball wrench

New from RC Maker is this suspension ball wrench, which holds the AT21 and AT21S-0.5 lower suspension balls on Awesomatix touring cars. Until now, the plastic ball cup prevented any tool being able to lock onto the hex in order to hold the ball whilst tightening and loosening. These balls are required to be removed whenever changing roll centre or replacing the main chassis. It is made from thin, but very stiff and durable carbon fibre and is available now.

Awesomatix IFJ inner front joint system

Coming from Awesomatix is the new IFJ inner front joint system. The somewhat revolutionary construction reduces the friction between the spool outdrive and the dogbone drive shaft during suspension movement. This results in a smoother car behaviour, improved steering and increased corner speed due to a reduction in the binding and forces acting between the drive shafts and outdrives during acceleration, braking and cornering. The friction-reducing capabilities also improve the efficiency of the transmission which is important especially for Stock racing classes but also when running Modified motors. The ball-raced set is available now with a dedicated IRF inner rear joint set for the rear diff coming soon.
