Axial AX10 Ridgecrest

April 2012 marks the five year anniversary of the AX10 and Axial felt that it was time for the product that launched them into the crawling segment to undergo some evolution and receive some trickle-down technological advancements of its own. They have not changed the original scope of the vehicle, the AX10 Ridgecrest is still the “Leatherman” of the Axial product line and it’s where backyard crawling begins. They have taken key items from their products and put them into the AX10 Ridgecrest, along with an all-new tube style chassis. The most noticeable performance upgrade of the AX10 are the Ripsaw tires, with their 5.5″ tall by 2.1″ wide stance, mounted on officially licensed Raceline Renegade wheels. But what you do not see is the updated suspension geometry that also delivers better articulation. All delivered through Dana 60 inspired AR60 OCP-Axles that have already been proven on the Axial Wraith.

Axial Wraith front & rear sway bar kits

New from Axial Racing to set your Wraith up for high speed rock racing, or Recon G6 Challenge style events is this front and rear sway bar kit. Designed for high speed this system will let you soften up your suspension for jumps, while keeping torque twist and body lean to a minimum during acceleration. A sway bar’s main function is to control body roll, yet still allow your shocks to move vertically with the changing terrain giving you more stability at high speed. Each sway bar lever is made from CNC machined black anodized aluminium and each kit includes three different steel sway bars (soft, medium and firm) for fine tuning body roll and suspension articulation. All required hardware is also included.

STRC Axial Wraith aluminium options

STRC Axial Wraith aluminium options

STRC have produced suspension links for the Axial Wraith out of heavy duty CNC machined aluminium. Instead of going with the cheaper looking aluminium tube design, these lower and upper suspension links feature the same lightweight design as the stock plastic pieces with weight saving holes drilled out in the suspension links while preserving the same thickness as the stock plastic pieces that makes these links near indestructible. The stock plastic steering linkage on the Axial Wraith is also a weak point on this vehicle, as the stock pieces tend to be sloppy and weak in transferring the torque and power coming from the steering servo. These CNC Machined Aluminium Steering link features 7mm thick aluminium tubes for lower and upper steering links. The upper link features a slight bend that allows for all the power and torque from the servo to be transferred in a perpendicular angle to the arm of the knuckle to ensure no power is loss in the transfer. Suspension links and steering links available in Gun Metal, Black, Green and Silver.

Axial Wraith RTR electric 4wd rock racer

Axial Wraith RTR electric 4wd rock racer

The Wraith Ready-to-Run 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD Rock Racer is another ‘first’ for Axial with the first and most realistic full tube-frame chassis design that is manufactured with high strength composite materials. The Wraith is built to go fast and is not just a low speed rock crawler. It changes the game with its impressive 1:1 scale looks, high-speed monster truck ‘bashability’ and technical ‘crawl’ capabilities. The most versatile vehicle satisfying the needs of a wide range of enthusiasts, its realistic looks, drivability and ready-to-run ease make this vehicle the perfect blank canvas for the enthusiast looking for a vehicle to build upon. Within the 1:1 (full size) crawl & off-road race segments, overall tire diameters have been on the rise, literally and directly influencing the R/C crawl segment, thus this Axial Ripsaw reflects this attraction of flirting with rocks at speed with a compelling design that will give your rig the aggressive competition look and performance. R/C crawlers will clearly benefit with larger ground clearance where it counts as the Ripsaw measures 5.5″ (140mm) in diameter. This gives the lowest point on the 4X4 axle housing more clearance thus giving you many more tactical driving options in those sticky predicament.
