New Ninja engines made by O.S.

New Ninja engines made by O.S.

Following on from the announcement by GRP that they would stop producing engines for the Mugen owned Ninja brand, comes the first pictures of the new OS made Ninja motors. According to our site partners Neo Buggy, “the engine, OEM manufactured by OS engines for Ninja, is loosely based on their V-Spec with some custom features: the crankcase is from the OS 28XZ engine and does not feature the distinctive OS ‘black’ coating, the sleeve port design is a bit different from the V-Spec, head design, the crankshaft appears to have the same ‘DLC’ coating as the OS Speed V-spec but without counterweights. All in all a mix up of a few OS engines and Ninja branding.”

 O.S. Speed Tuned .21 VZ-B V-Spec

We wrote about the O.S. Speed Tuned .21 VZ-B V-Spec back in May when it was first shown and now its available to buy. The engine sports an aluminum heat sink head combined with special factory tuning which makes this a more efficiently cooled .21 VZ-B V-Spec competition engine. The specially coated crankshaft features a precision ceramic bearing that greatly reduces friction, plus a Tungsten weight for added balance, while a double adjustment carb allows for ultra-fine tuning for demanding race conditions.

We wrote about his motor back in May when it was first released in Japan and now that it has come state side we have more information. The O.S. Speed .12TZ Spec II engine has a magnesium head that’s 35% lighter than standard head material which helps lower the engine’s centre of graivty, essential for touring cars.  The front bearing is sealed and the rear bearing is ceramic which resists heat and lasts longer than a steel balled version. The crankshaft has also been coated to fight friction and increase durability and is lightened and epoxy-filled for more efficient fuel direction.

O.S. Engines 12TZ & 12TG

O.S. Max 12 TZ

O.S. have announced 2 new engines to fill a vital niche in the stadium truck market with the release of the 12TZ (P) and the 12TG-P. The 12TZ is a turbo engine with a 3-port ABC liner and 3-needle rotary carb, for optimum adjustability, and this motor meets all IFMAR and ROAR 3-port specs. The bore and stroke of this motor provide the widest possible power band and with it the ability to adapt to any track. The 12TG-P is also a ROAR legal motor and works well in cars like the Associated GT2 and HPI Firestorm, and like all 12TG engines it’s easy to break in and very economical, expecting to get up to 14 minutes of run-time on a single tank of fuel.
