O.S Engines welcome back Andrea Pirani

O.S. Engines have announced the return of Andrea Pirani to their racing team. After three year of collaboration Andrea returns to the iconic Japanese brand to continue the project born in 2014: Increasing the European market share while helping with product development. This year Andrea will participate at the 1/8th On-road World Championships in France, the ENS and the Italian Championship. In cooperation with Italian O.S. distributor Radiosistemi, Andrea will also offer technical support for O.S. on-road drivers.

Futaba O.S. Speed Tuned high-performance servos

Futaba have introduced a special line of “O.S. Speed Tuned”-branded servos for 1/8th and 1/10th scale applications to celebrate the two company’s long-running collaboration. First up is the Speed T1 BLS571SV (0.08s/11kg-cm) low profile servo for 1/10th touring car and off-road classes. It offers hardened gears, ceramic ball bearings and aluminium top and middle sections. Next up is the Speed R1 BLS371SV (0.10s/19kg-cm), a standard-size servo for 1/8th on-road applications featuring hybrid gears, ceramic bearings and an aluminium upper case and middle section. Last but not least is the Speed B1 S9373SV (0.06s/24.6kg-cm), an all-alloy case servo for buggy racing, again with hybrid gears and ceramic bearings. All servos are high-voltage compatible and they come in a special red and black anodised design and with dark-toned servo leads.

Adam & Ronda Drake join O.S. and Trakpower

Following his departure from Novarossi last week, Hobbico have today announced that Adam Drake, along with his wife Ronda, have joined the O.S. and TrakPower race teams for 2017. This R/C power couple has been kicking the competition for a combined 50+ years, racking up countless wins at all levels. Now they’re bringing that expertise to a track near you, coaching race peers and helping Hobbico make fast drivers even faster with cutting-edge products. “O.S. is passionate about winning and is the proven choice of champions,” Adam explains. “I’m honored to be a part of the team.” Ronda adds “It has been a dream of mine to run for O.S. Everyone knows that they are the best engine on the market!”

O.S. Engines sign up Sahashi brothers

O.S. Engines have announced the signing of former Picco factory drivers Tadahiko and Yuya Sahashi to their team. 2013 IFMAR 1/8th On-road World Champion Tadahiko, and Yuya, third place finisher at the 2015 Worlds, will utilise O.S. Speed engines in their forthcoming campaign that will include appearances at the Japanese National championships and of course the IFMAR 1/8th On-road Worlds in France.

O.S. Speed T1202 2.1cc touring car engine

The latest O.S. Speed engine to surface is the Speed T1202 1/10th scale touring car engine. With significant updates have been made to the original T1201, the latest version features improved torque, a tungsten-weighted crankshaft with diamond-like coating and a lighter piston for better performance over the whole RPM range. A thinker cylinder flange transfers heat more efficiently to the low-profile cooling head and a low-profile carburettor restrictor enables quicker throttle response from low to top. On top of this the engine offers improved mileage.

O.S. Speed Gold nitro engine glow plugs

O.S. Engines have introduced their new O.S. Speed Gold glow plugs. Building on the success of the recently introduced limited edition #80 plug the P3, P4, RP6 and RP7 turbo-style plugs complement the already existing range with the P3 and P4 offering improved low to middle-range power and quicker response to throttle inputs, allowing for quicker spool up and also more stable idling. The different idling characteristics will also be acoustically noticeable. As for the RP6 and RP7, both glow plugs will also offer improved low-end power and quicker spool-up. The glow plugs become available by October.

O.S. Speed B2102 low-profile buggy engine

On show during this week’s Tokyo Hobby Show is O.S. Engines’ new Speed B2102 3.5cc nitro buggy engine. The most noticeable part of the power plant is its low-profile cooling head that sits about 17mm lower than standard, making for a greatly lowered centre of gravity without sacrificing cooling performance. Also new to the B2102 are the carburettor, crankcase, combustion camber insert and more. The engine will become available from December as engine only or including a T2090SC muffler.

O.S. Engines 24K Gold-plated #80 glow plug

O.S. Engines have introduced their limited edition 24K Gold-plated #80 glow plug. The release goes along with the the recently announced O.S. Speed Spec II Gold Edition and B2101 Las Vegas Edition engines with the #80 glow plug being a renamed #8 covered in a luxurious gold-plating in honour of O.S.’s 80th anniversary. The plug is usable just like a standard #8 and available for a limited time only.
