Serpent S400 brackets & S960 shims

Serpent have released some new items for their S400 and S960 chassis’, starting with this range of optional lower suspension brackets for fine-tuning the geometry settings on the S400. Made from anodised grey aluminium, the new brackets are available in 2.5, 3.5 and 4.0 and allow a wide range of front and rear toe settings as well as overall track width adjustment. Also new is a set of 4 conical steel shims for the Serpent 960-08, that work in the same way as previously available versions, keeping the wheel true by helping centre them on the axles. They are now smaller in diameter to reflect the new bearing diameter size used on the 2008 spec car.

Michael Salven wins in Dormagen

Serpent are reporting on the German Regionals for the West area at which Michael Salven was in action over the weekend. The factory Serpent driver was unstoppable around the tricky and demanding Dormagen track taking the TQ and race win along with setting a new track record with his Serpent 960’08. Salven’s win was backed up by a great drive from engine tuning guru Karl Heinz Meister who claimed the runners up spot with new Shepherd signing Christian Wurst in 3rd.

Neil Diver wins Rd1 of UK 1/8th Nats

Serpent have a report on the opening round of the 2008 1/8th scale On road British National Championships that kicked off over the Easter weekend at the very fast Brookland Circuit in Kent. Saturday’s practice saw drivers faced with a mixture of rain, hail and sunshine but on race day most drivers had the opportunity to test on a dry track but had to contend with very cold air temperatures of only 2C and later damp conditions. Defending Champion Mark Green with his Serpent 960 took the top qualifier spot after 3 round of wet qualifying with team-mate Neil Diver second fastest. In the A final the lead was held by 4 different drivers during the 30-minute encounter with Serpent driver Neil Diver holding it when it counted most to take victory by 10 seconds from Chris Heath in 2nd with Iain Milford in 3rd, a lap further down.

Sidiropoulos wins Greek 200mm Nats Rd1

The opening round of the Greek National Championship for 1:10 200mm took place over the weekend at the FRT circuit. Saturday practice saw the Serpent pairing of John Sotiropoulos and Kostas Sidiropoulos set the pace, which they would carry through to Sunday as they secured the top two placings in qualifying with Sotiropoulos taking the TQ. In the final Sotiropoulos capitalised on his pole starting position, opening up an early lead over the chasing pack but unfortunately 18 minutes into the race he destroyed both 2 speed gears, handing the lead to team-mate Sidiropoulos. After almost 2 minutes in the pits, Sotiropoulos rejoined the race 5 laps in arrears of his team-mate. Determined to take a podium finish he put in a superb recovery drive setting the fastest lap of the day on his way to an excellent third place finish, just behind Mugen racer Lymnios in 2nd, while up front Sidiropoulos cruised home to take his first ever National championship race win.

Serpent Chrome decal sheets

Serpent Chrome decal sheets

Serpent have just released 2 new decal sheets suitable for both their 1/8th scale and seperately 1/10th scale cars. Printed on A4 sheets, the 2 new decals have been made using black and reflective chrome ink, giving a very cool look to your car. The 1/8th scale sheet sports larger logos suitable for the bigger car while the 1/10th sheet of course has smaller logos to fit the smaller body shells. Both are fuel resistant.

Niclas Nilsson wins SSIC title

Niclas Nilsson wins SSIC title

Serpent are reporting on the final, and title deciding round, of the South Swedish Indoor Championship (SSIC) that took place at the Malmö indoor track last weekend where the Serpent S400 of Team Serpent Sweden driver Niclas Nilsson enjoyed victory to become the overall Champion in Modified EP Touring. On the large but tight high traction track Nilsson was able to take TQ as well as setting some of the fastest lap times ever run on the Malmö track en route to the overall victory. Daniel Carlsson finished runner up with Rasmus Thulin completing the podium.

S400 wins the Nosram Six Enduro Series

Serpent are reporting on the achievements of their South African team, which scored an important victory for the S400 as the three man Serpent squad of Dave Wiseman, Mike Wiseman and Tony D’ Oliviera took overall victory in the Nosram Six Series, an endurance series that takes in three 6 hour races run over a two month period. The first event at the tight Umhlanga Gateway Raceway, saw a tight fight right to the end, with the S400 car of Mike, Dave and Tony D’Oliviera, taking the win by just one lap, approx 16 seconds, after 6 hours of racing. The 2nd event took place at another tight track at Camperdown but unfortunately this event had to be cut short at the midway point when the heavens opened up over the track. The final round was held at the Southway track in Durban where three S400 cars were running. Again a tight struggle until the final two hours when the Wiseman/D’Oliviera team moved clear to take the win and with it secured overall series victory. Second in the final went to another S400 in the hands of Shaun & Mike White, driving with Neil Robinson while in the overall standings Serpent’s EP touring car took a 1-2 with Brandon May, Kim Hein and Shane Sudbury taking their example to 2nd in the final standings.

Franceschi wins Sao Paulo Stock Champs Rd1

Serpent have a report on their site from the first round of the Sao Paolo Championship held at the Sam’s Club track in Santo Andre, a city within Greater Sao Paulo, the State’s Capital. The format saw each driver get just a single qualifying round followed by four heats, the best three of which determine the overall result. Starting from pole the two first wins came easy for Serpent racer Felipe Franceschi but his team mate Thiago ‘Poldo’ Podolsky, although very fast, faced mechanical problems with the breakage of his front belt followed by the rear preventing him from getting a good score. In the third heat it would be Felipe’s turn suffer a broken belt, the team putting these failures down to the debris on a number of dirty spots on the track. With Felipe out, Poldo was the favorite but his back luck continued as a prototype aluminum central axle that is currently being developed by the team broke. The fourth and final heat saw Felipe take his third win of the day and with overall victory in the opening round of the championship in front of Corally racer Lincoln Almeida in 2nd and Xray driver Marcos Mayer in 3rd
