Racer in the Spotlight – Philip Eberle

Continuing their Racer in the Spotlight series, Serpent have interviewed European B Championship finalist Philip Eberle from Germany. Racing for 8 years Philip has already achieved some very good results in his home country but wishes to increase his racing level even higher and as such he will focus less on regional races and compete in more international events. Sotiropoulos makes it 3 at Greek Nationals

Serpent are reporting on last weekends Greek Nationals which took place for the first time this season at the Patra track. Sotiropoulos, who has won the first 2 rounds of this years Nationals, qualified his Serpent 960 in the second spot for the A Final but it took just a few laps for him to take the lead of the race and cruise home to a 3 lap winning margin ahead of Dimitris Bastas in 2nd and Konstantinos Agrafiotis in 3rd.

Serpent have introduced the latest version of the Powerstart starter box, the follow up to their original pioneering compact starter box. Suitable for both conventional and in line engines, this new box features dual motors for great starting power and is perfect for all types of car, both circuit and buggy. The box’s adjustable positioning mounts mean you can make any car easily fit. Coming pre assembled, this new starter box features a composite casing and sports a small removable parts box, for spare plugs and clips, and a clip on the rear of the box to mount your glow plug starter. The Powerstart is supplied with a carrying case to protect it when being transported to and from the track and the bag also features a separate pocket for storing cables and other associated items. Expect to see it at the start of July.

Serpent quick fill fuel bottle

Serpent quick fill fuel bottle

Serpent have released this most essential of products, the fuel bottle. Made using a very soft material the bottle can be quickly and easily squeezed allowing for quick fills while still being able to control that the bottle doesn’t overflow. The bottles big bore orange anodised pipe sports the Serpent oval and text logo laser etched into it while a rubber top stops dirt from entering the bottle when not in use.

Serpent S400 – First pictures released

Serpent have just acknowledged their entry into the ultra competitive electric touring car market, and shown pictures of their new car, the S400. We first showed you pictures of the car back in February when it made its debut at the Snowbirds in its carpet form, while the new pictures show it in a better light, photographed in its outdoor rubber tire version. The car is expected to be released in July in outdoor spec with a carpet version to follow just before the indoor season starts.

Serpent carbon plate for LCG chassis

Serpent have released this carbon filler plate for use with their new LCG chassis plate that we showed you a while ago. The plate comes with the fastening material to fix it to the chassis and is suitable for mounting in the front of both the SPP chassis as a spare and the latest LCG machined chassis as an optional. What it does is, when in place it stiffens up the front of the chassis, which of course affects the cars handling dramatically.

NakSung wins Korean National race

Serpent have a report on their site from last weekends Korean National race which took place on the Kirina Circuit near Seoul, in the North of the country. In qualifying it was Serpent SDD driver Nam Sangjoon that took the TQ spot with a great run in the 10 minute qualifiers to edge out Goo Kibon and Namgoong Wook who qualified 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the final, the top qualifer Sangjoon lead until a battery connection broke loosing the young driver over a minute, and the lead, which fell to Choi NakSung who went on to win while a recovering Sangjoon took 2nd and Oh YongTaek 3rd. Guest driver from Japan Masao Tanaka (above with Nam), driving for Motonica, failed to finish the 45 minute final and came home in 10th.

Serpent shock spring supports

Serpent shock spring supports

Serpent have released 2 seperate shock spring supports for their RCC, and older, shock absorbers. The first versions (above) are made from aluminium and have been lightened through the use of holes and are a direct replacement of the original versions only stronger. The second version, which you can see below, are made from the original composite material, but are 2mm thicker, which means the spring sits 2mm higher on the shock body, allowing for a wider range of spring tension adjustment.
