Serpent Project 4X Pro touring car kit

Serpent have introduced their new Project 4X Pro 1/10th 4WD electric touring car kit, follow-up model to the previous Evo kit. The latest evolution of the innovative electric touring car is packed with improvements that make it both faster and easier to drive. The new rear geometry that can be used with either fixed or active toe with the fixed toe configuration features a unique 3-pivot design for quick toe adjustments, easy track width changes and more efficient arm sweep. The variable toe variation however generates more grip while improved toe control gives the optimum combination of steering and rear grip. The new horizontal top deck is the result of countless hours of testing to find the perfect combination of flex and rigidity while improvements in various components allow more battery configurations, including shorty types, to make it easier to find the optimum weight distribution for each track. Other included updates will allow the mounting of more optional parts to further enhance the tuneability of the 4X Pro. The Pro uses all of the Evo’s updates including the same easy to build and setup shock system and fixed-length pullrods, while the rear suspension is heavily modified with much longer arms and a different geometry to create more steering and widen the setup window on medium to high grip asphalt. The Pro kit will hit stores this March.

Serpent F110 SF4 1/10th formula car

Serpent have officially announced the release of their new F110 SF4 1/10th formula pan car kit. Around in prototype stages for some time now the kit will finally hit stores in December. The SF4 variant is based on the ETS-winning SF3, however the biggest update is the new bearing-supported rear pod design that does away with traditional side links, ensuring a linear roll movement during cornering which ensures independent cornering from braking or acceleration. While this doesn’t change much in terms of mid corner handling, the construction gives an unprecedented consistency and stability at corner entry under braking and when applying steering input and also at corner exit when the throttle is hit before the steering is completely straight. This allows to brake and accelerate harder into and out of the corner.

Serpent F110 S4 Prototype – First images

During this week’s 2018 IFMAR ISTC World Championships, held in Welkom, South Africa, Serpent’s David Ehrbar is running a prototype of the forthcoming S110 S4 1/10th formula car. David had his first roll out of the car in China in the days before making his way onto Welkom for the race. Officially still a prototype, it was finished just the night before he arrived to test in China, the car is the basis for their upcoming kit release which will be known as the F110 S4. Key features of the car are a new rear wing mounting system which is now mounted to the main chassis plate and not to the pod as before. The car has also moved away from using side links to using bearings which David says makes the car more linear especially when cornering and accelerating at the same time.
