During this weekend’s AMS 6.0 in Alabama JConcepts are debuting a brand-new 1/8th truggy bodyshell. Prototyped for the TLR 8ight-T 3.0 and driven by TLR/JConcept’s Ryan Maifield the body is set for a release shortly after the ROAR 1/8th Nationals and it will be available for TLR and Mugen trucks.

Horizon Hobby have introduced the new Losi 1/14th scale Mini Rally 4WD RTR kit. Based on the Mini 8ight platform the car features a shaft drivetrain, long travel suspension and a 4500kv brushless motor and 2S LiPo-compatible speed controller for true rallycross performance on a variety of surfaces. Following the introduction of the Chasers large scale off-road tyre, JConcepts now also announce the release of the Reflex tread. The yellow compound tyre has square angled pins that are stacked vertically to flex and fold evenly across the tyre. Typically a stacked tread will wear less and provide more forward bite while the aligned space helps rotation in the turns and gives a snappy release to square up quickly. Easily one of the smaller pin tyres available for 1/5th off-road, the Reflex is a beefed up version of its 1/8th scale sibling scaled up in size to withstand heavy abuse but just nimble enough to offer optimised response. To make them interchangeable, the tyre beads and inner carcass have been designed to use the stock Losi 5ive insert and fit directly to the already established bead-lock wheel. The inner tabs built into the carcass interlock with the Losi bead-lock style wheels for security.

JConcepts have introduced their first ever tyre for the 1/5th scale class, the Losi 5ive compatible Chasers. The tyre relies on hefty, medium lugs which are angular in multiple directions. The horizontal type tread has a striking similarity to the trusty 1/8th buggy Crossbow tyre. Chasers have a squatty, close lug arrangement which gives responsiveness and bites in all conditions. The wet and dry condition tyre has small recessed cuts in the top of the tread for extra edges and increased formability over terrain. The centre overlapping bar treatment increases durability in the highest wear region of the tire. The outer sidewall has added tread at the top which provides extra reinforcement for those tough outdoor conditions while the outer V-lug also provides some paddle traction in loose sand or muddy conditions giving the Chasers ultimate versatility.

JConcepts introduce the Finnisher design bodyshell for the TLR 22T 2.0 stadium truck. The slight cab forward, raked windshield and aggressive stance highlight a performance oriented core. A revised front hood scoop allows plenty of clearance for the unique 22T geometry while smoothing out the front down force area. A front chin spoiler, headlight and grill protect the front-end from unwanted up-drafts during flight while the supplied decals detail stand-out like an 18 wheeler. Like the ROAR National Champion Hi-Flow SCT body, the Finnisher body has built-in air escape passages which allow the customer to fine-tune the body for maximum outdoor performance. Included is also a high performance gurney spoiler which increases rear grip and balances the handling characteristics of the aggressively styled body.

Team Losi Racing introduce two new 3-hole piston sets for 22-series vehicles. The 12mm pistons are offered in packs of four, and with the hole diameters of 1.3mm and 1.4mm. The TLR race team has had great success running the prototypes of these pistons on their 22 2.0 and 22-4 buggies and have dabbled with them on their 22T 2.0 and 22SCT 2.0’s also. Several key setups benefit from the reduced pack and quicker movement of the 3-hole pistons, especially on tracks that are a little bumpier.

The latest vehicle to receive MIP’s Pucks drive system treatment is the TLR 22SCT 2.0 short course truck. Designed especially for 17.5T stock class racing the set greatly reduces the drivetrain’s rotating masses by utilising aluminium C-CVD driveshafts, aluminium differential outdrives and the drivepin-replacing Pucks cushions that take the place of the inferior steel pins. This combination greatly increases the longevity of the drivetrain and most importantly decreases the drivetrain’s overall rotating mass by a whopping 50 percent. The decrease in weight directly results in quicker acceleration, deceleration, and lower motor temperatures. Beside the driveshafts the set also includes a full MIP ball differential, minus the diff gear, as well as wheel axles and small parts.

Pro-Line have introduced 1/10th buggy versions of their Pro-Spec high-performance shock absorbers. Previously only available for 1/10th short course trucks the shock Pro-Spec dampers now also come for today’s most popular buggies. They are of a 12mm Big Bore design with a single low friction X-ring seal while the pistons and shaft guides are made from smooth white Delrin for low stiction. The threaded aluminium bodies house 3.5mm thick shock shafts with hard chrome coating, just like full scale racing shocks. The shocks also feature an easy access bleeder cap screw for consistent shock builds every time and each pair includes three different piston options of 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 sizes as well as a blank piston for drilling to a custom size. Custom shock tightening tools and optional shock limiters are also included. The dampers accept most 12mm big bore buggy springs and included are also several upper and lower shock pivot balls as well as optional +2, +4 and +6mm spring perches to fit a wider range of vehicles right out of the box. Coming as separate front and rear sets the shocks are known to fit the Team Associated B5, B5M and B44.3, the Kyosho RB6 and ZX-6, the TLR 22 2.0 and 22-4 as well as the Yokomo B-Max2 and B-Max4.
