Losi have introduced the 5ive WRC Mini. This officially licensed replica of the John Cooper Works (JCW) World Rally Championship (WRC) Mini Countryman personifies the essence of rallycross performance with an outstanding design and authoritative 4WD power. To better power through the off-road the it is equipped with a powerful 29cc gasoline engine, and an extremely capable shaft driven 4wd drive train with 3 viscous differentials for even power distribution. The patent-pending Spektrum AVC (Active Vehicle Control) technology system has been included so drivers can make the most of the high speed potential of the 5ive Mini WRC regardless of the driving environment.

Lin Le Hua joins Team Losi Racing

Lin Le Hua joins Team Losi Racing

Team Losi Racing announce the signing of China-based driver Lin Le Lua for their 2014 race team. The A-finalist of the 2013 FEMCA Nitro Race and 2013 FEMCA EP podium finisher will be piloting TLR’s 8ight and 22 series of vehicles throughout 2014. Beside competing at all major events in China, Lin will also attend at a variety of races throughout Asia to represent the TLR brand. Le Hua had the following to say about the deal:

First of all, I will like to say a big thank you to Horizon Hobby-China for setting up the opportunity to represent TLR for the year 2014. TLR is a brand of Horizon with a long racing history and I am always amazed by their innovation on various off-road platforms. TLR 8ight-T 3.0 truggy

TLR have announced the 8ight-T 3.0 truggy, this latest version benefiting from the same engineering and expertise that made the 8ight 3.0 buggy a ROAR National Champion. Everything from the suspension geometry to the body and wing design has been refined so it is easier for racers of all skill levels to drive faster and lower lap times. In terms of suspension geometry it has been refined to give racers of all skill levels a neutral handling truggy that is easy to drive fast. 15-degree, non-inclined caster blocks raise the spindle, allowing the vehicle to soak up bumps with less dog bone plunge. Redesigned front arms improve front wheel clearance and increase steering throw. Camber and shock locations on the shock towers are optimized for quick and easy tuning.

Ellis Stafford joins TLR for 2014

Horizon Hobby UK have announced the return of Ellis Stafford to the UK/EU TLR team for 2014. Widely respected for his development skills as well as his on-track pace, the former double European Champion will concentrate on TLR’s 22 2.0 and 22-4 electric platforms and will help spearhead the company’s European 1:10 race program alongside young Dutch sensation Wesley van Helmond. Ellis had this to say:

I’d like to start by saying thank you to Durango but now a new chapter has started, or should I say continues. Joining back with TLR is an exciting adventure and having spent 16 years with Horizon and 12 years with Losi before this really does feel like I’m coming home again. I’m looking forward to running the 22 2.0 to see just how good it is and I’m really excited to get my hands on the 22-4 fairly soon to see just what that can bring us.

TLR 22 2.0 Universal Joint driveshafts

New from TLR, designed for the 22 2.0, these Universal Joint (UJ) driveshafts create less “Bone Bind” or “Driveshaft Lock-Up” allowing for freer rear suspension movement, especially on power. This allows the car to squat more on acceleration, creates more side bite and is more consistent when throttle inputs vary. This is a great setup tuning option for high-grip surfaces or very bumpy surfaces, especially outdoor Astro Turf, carpet and some higher bite dirt or clay surfaces.  The Horizon Hobby UK is exceptionally excited for this product release as they have found great improvements in performance with the UJ’s on most of their circuits.

Miguel Matias leaves Team Losi Racing

Miguel Matias leaves TLR

Multiple European Champion Miguel Matias has announced his departure from TLR, the latest top European racer to leave after Darren Bloomfield quit the team some weeks ago. The Portuguese driver gave no word on where he is going next but with the new year just around the corner we will soon find out. He had this to say:

After a couple of years racing with Horizon/TLR it is now time to embrace new projects! But first I would like to thank all the support given by Horizon/TLR during this time, specially to Adam Drake and David Spashett, some of the best people I worked with in this industry. 2014 will certainly bring me new challenges! See you soon!

Vision Racing SRX2 & Ten-SCTE option parts

Vision Racing have new option parts for the Serpent SRX2 buggy and the TLR Ten-SCTE short course truck available. First up is the short carbon fibre battery brace for the Serpent buggy. The part is cut from 2.5mm high quality material and a direct fit. It is ideal when mounting the speed controller in-line with a shorty LiPo battery packs as the shorter length of the brace does away with speedo height clearance problems. Also new are inner shock bushings for the Ten-SCTE truck. Made from teflon material the parts are of a very high precision improving the O-ring seal seat and thus seal life and shock action. The bushings come in sets of four.

Dakotah Phend extends deal with TLR

Team Losi Racing announce another re-signing, this time of US National Champion Dakotah “The Phenom” Phend for the 2014-2015 racing seasons. Dakotah had what many would consider to be a dream year in 2013, driving his Team Losi Racing vehicles to 3 ROAR National Championships in 1/8-scale electric buggy, 4WD short course truck and the prestigious 2WD modified buggy classes. To follow this up on his success Dakotah finished 8th in the debut for the new TLR 22-4 4WD buggy in the 2013 IFMAR World Championships. He had this to say:

I, along with Team Losi Racing, have had a great 2013 racing reason and I’m looking forward to my renewed partnership with them through the 2015 season.  The last few years with TLR have been great and I’m excited to continue driving, tuning and winning with the full-lineup of electric and nitro TLR vehicles.
