VRC Column – VRC Pro is WYSISWYR…

VRC Column - VRC Pro is WYSISWYR…

R/C simulators have some very special features which make them the ideal simulation, more than any other type of simulation game. The most important feature is the nature of r/c (for remote or radio control) itself. Being in a remote position to control the car means that there is no other feedback than through seeing and hearing. R/C racers have developed special skills to control their cars by what they see and what they hear and translate that to their hands to operate the radio. A real car or flight simulator lacks for instance the all important feedback from G-forces generated by the car or airplane when it turns, accelerates, climbs or dives. R/C racing is purely an audiovisual experience so if what you see and hear on your monitor is an almost perfect simulation of the real world (track and car behavior) and if you can control your car with your own radio then you have the perfect sim! We call this WYSIWYR, What You See Is What You Race…

VRC Column – Brand Exclusivity in VRC Pro

VRC Column - Brand Exclusivity in VRC Pro

Preparations for VRC PRO are in full swing and VRC is now starting to inform r/c manufacturers about the unique concept of VRC PRO and to give them insight in the rich features and communication opportunities the new platform has to offer to the r/c industry. Although there are many manufacturers who would like to join the VRC PRO partnership, VRC is restricting the partnerships to the 5 main manufacturers in each product category. We strongly believe it is in the interest of our partners and our racers to offer this level of brand exclusivity although this may also mean that some less popular brands will not be represented in VRC. Still, working with the top-5 in each category will ensure the major brands and their customers will be best served. Kyosho, XRay and Associated are among the most popular brands in most chassis categories.

VRC Column – Pan Cars & Data Logging

VRC Column - Pan Cars & Data Logging

The VRC development team is looking at pan chassis cars like the popular 1:12 scale cars to be added to the electric car selection. Although not finalized yet, 3D models have been created of the popular Associated 12R5 and 10R5 chassis to start testing with. The physics of these type of cars are quite different from the suspension cars and will require more research of VRC’s physics wiz Todd ‘Doc’ Wasson.

VRC Pro – More than just a game

VRC Pro is four in one: it is a Professional RC racing simulator, Racing game, a Sports game and Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMO) in one. As a Professional RC racing simulator, VRC Pro simulates the RC racing experience as accurately and realistically as practically possible, taking into account vehicle dynamics, graphics, control, real-world replication, while overcoming real-world limitations like geographic boundaries and substantial costs. As a racing game, VRC places the player on the rostrum, controlling a high-performance vehicle and allowing the player to race against other drivers or just time. As a sports game VRC Pro emulates the playing of the traditional physical RC sport: it emphasizes both performing the sport and the strategy behind it. VRC Pro features two main sub-genres within racing games: arcade racing and professional simulation racing.

VRC Pro – Asso GT2 & Upgrade policy

VRC graphics artist Tony West has delivered yet another chassis for VRC Pro: the Associated GT2 Factory Team gas truck. This chassis will fit the 1:10 nitro off-road class that will be featured in VRC Pro. Off-road will have to wait until on-road is launched, the reason for this is the extra development work that has to go in to creating the off-road tracks and various chassis.
