Markus Eirenschmalz win Flawil Indoor race

Flawil Indoor race

Xray have a article on their site from Swiss Xray rider Robin Frischkopf who reports on the Indoor Race Flawil which attracted over 100 entries from Germany and Switzerland. The race took place on an old indoor horse riding arena which made it very tight and seemed to cause some problems for Robin, who eventually ended up in the quarter finals after qualfiying but managed to bump in race day to the semis and then into the Main final where he finished in 2nd position behind eventual winner Markus Eirenschmalz, also driving Xray.

However, German driver Markus Eirenschmalz (also driving an XRAY XB8TQ) was a little bit faster than me. We battled for a long time and were only seconds apart. Nearing the end of the final I was again in some traffic and got crashed into, so he was half a lap ahead of me. For the last part of the final I tried to catch up but I couldn’t quite make it. In the end there was still only half a lap between us so I settled for a good second place.

Barry Baker wins 2007 Magma race

Barry Baker Magma race

I know this report is a little bit late, with the Magma race having taken place last month in Canada, but Xray have only now posted a report. Along with the local hotshots at the Fastcat R/C track, some top talent from the US made the trip up such as Baker, Easton and Dayger which made it a very special race. In the Mod and 19T class it was Baker who was setting the pace getting TQ for both and then managed to convert that advantage to wins in both classes. Billy Easton ended up in 2nd in modified followed by Keith Yu while in 19T Martin Crisp ran home 2nd followed by Keven Herbert in 3rd.

Zack Barry wins 1/18th Race of Champions

Zack Barry

In the warmup race for the 1/18th scale off road Race of Champions held at RC Madness in Enfield, Conneticut in the end of January, Zack Barry dominated the event driving an Xray M18. Zack had troubles in qualifying but managed to pull it together and take the pole in both classes and then went on to win in both classes too.

Zack entered in two different classes, running his Xray M18T in 4wd truck class , and his M18MT in the mini-monster class. In the first round of qualifying he had a rough time , not completing either race. In the second round ,he came back and set the TQ in both classes , and had the only 20 lap run of the entire event [in any class] with his M18T. Zack went on to take home the first place trophies in both classes.

Spanish 1/18th cup, round 2

Spanish 1/18th cup

Xray are reporting on their site on the second round of the Spanish 1/18th cup which was held at the weekend in Parla, Madrid on a great purpose built outdoor mini scale track. Pedro Fuentes managed to take the win after a hard fought battle that took place during a very long 15 minute final.

The biggest battle was among the other drivers, especially Adrian Ortiz, J.A. de Lara and Pedro Fuentes. In the final 3 laps everything seemed to be decided, but then Gonzalo (who was getting ready to lap 2nd place again) ran out of batteries lost the race… very bad luck.

Manuel Huber, latest driver to race Xray NT1

Manuel Huber

Xray, never one to hold back, have signed yet another big European name, Manuel Huber, to race their new Xray NT1 200mm gas touring car. The multiple Austrian champion and WC/EC finalist will join the Slovakian team with immediate effect and will line up alongside Groskamp, Christensen, Peracho, LeMieux, Burch and Baker to make a formidable team.

The main reasons for my decision to move to Team XRAY are the independent self-production of every part of the car (the XRAY factory is really amazing!), the possibility for quick changes to different parts, and of course the really great teamwork. After driving the NT1, I found it is much faster than the car I was used to racing.

Xray NT1 first real picture

Xray NT1

I’m sorry for the 3 Xray posts in a row but they have some highly anticipated cars coming out and none more so than the all new Xray NT1 as seen above (click image for larger pic). This car has been majorly hyped and made its small time debut a few weeks back when it won a regional race on its first outing in Florida with the cars international debut comes in 2 weeks at the Florida Winternats. What about the car itself, well from what we can see it bears close similarities to the Mugen MTX and Kyosho RRR in looks at least, whilst the car itself looks pretty safe in design with no major, Team Magic style, innovation. We hope to get more details and pics later.
