XRAY Column – Worldcup Review and NT1 Testing

Juraj Hudy has his new column, the fifth in this series, now online. He discusses the GP Carpet World Cup event that saw Xray debutant Teemu Leino take the overall win, but more interestingly his talks about the NT1 and its development. Whilst no giving away any details of the actual car, he says that it has been 3 years in development and has been start from scratch on 3 occasions. The NT1 will make its official debut at the Winternats in February.

Since the first debut of the NT1 will be made at the Winternationals in USA, our strategy was to fully utilize the benefit of our new private racing tracks and so we built the exact same layout of the track which will be at the Winternationals, letting us run and practice at the same track layout and work on the basic set-up.

R1GP Winter Attack Indoor Carpet Race Rd2

The second round of the R1GP Winter attack Indoor Carpet race took place last weekend, once again on the great indoor carpet track at the Olympic Gymnastic stadium in Seoul. About 100 drivers showed up for the event, co organised by our site partner RC Forum, and the racing was tight with round 1 winner Ji Hyun Jang taking the win in the modified class ahead of Sang Jun Nam in 2nd place and Bon Gi Goo taking 3rd position.

Bastian Hennig wins Stock class at DHI Cup

With all the attention normally focussed on the Modified category at big races, it sometimes overshadows the great competition that takes place in the other classes. Whilst we focused on Ronald VÃ¶lkers win at last weekends DHI Cup, it was Bastian Hennig, driving and Xray, that took the stock class win after starting from 2nd place after qualifying. Bastian managed some better results in the A-main to get passed pole man Dennis Fadtke and take the overall class win with Fadtke dropping 1 place back to take 2nd overall, ahead of Lars Hoppe who took the final podium step in 3rd. Bastian was running the Orcan batteries that we featured on our site a few weeks back to take the win.

Dan Price wins Rd2 of the 2007 Israeli League

Xray have a report on their site from the second round of the the 2007 Israeli League that was held at the Ramat-eishay track in Israel. After qualifying 3rd Dan Price managed to fight to the top and take the win by 4.5 seconds ahead of Nir Sivan who finished 2nd with Yaniv Levi rounding out the podium.

At some point I overtook Yaniv only to be passed by him a few corners later in midair; he jumped and landed a few centimeters ahead of meâ€¦ one of the best moments of the day! After mid-race Yaniv developed brake problems so he backed off a bit which left me and Nir to fight for the lead.

Xray XT8 Truggy announced

As expected, Xray have announced their Truggy to follow the trend of almost all 1/8th scale buggy manufacturers in releasing a car for this growing class. Not much else is known about the truggy, other than it being most definitely based on the XB8 but with the usual truggy updates such as longer wishbones, driveshafts and perhaps a different chassis plate. More details will be known when it is shown at the Nurnberg Toy fair next month. It should be a busy fair for Xray with the official unveiling of the NT1 also expected at the show.

Xray NT1 wins first event

Last weekends Florida State series race held at the Ft Myers track, dubbed the Winternats Warm up race, was won by the all new Xray NT1. Making its debut in the hands of Xray team drivers Barry Baker and Ralph Burch, the car went on to win the regional race in the hands of Baker.

After successful long term tests by XRAY factory team drivers from Europe and USA at the XRAY’s private racing tracks the NT1 has confirmed its best performance and racing pedigree just at its first race. NT1 – the art of performance.

A good start for the NT1, but we will have to wait to see it compete on the big stage before we see the true potential of this car.

Giuseppe de Liguori wins the Trofeo del Granducato

Last weekend saw the 12th running of the â€œTrofeo del Granducato” in Italy and saw 79 drivers in attendance. Qualifying saw Xray racer Guido Barbera take the TQ ahead of Costanzo and Marletta, but in the finals Barbera’s luck ran out and could only manage 7th position at the end. The event was won by Giuseppe de Liguori who won 2 of the finals to take the overall win with Costanza taking 2nd position ahead of 3rd placed Marco Gennari.

Wayne Mah wins Rd2 of Canada West Indoor Champs

Xray have a report on their site on round 2 of the Western Canadian Indoor Championships held in Edmonton. The race was very well attended and Xray dominated the event in both numbers and in outright performance, winning all classes and taking up most of the runner up spots too. In modified class it was Wayne Mah that led home a top 4 finish for Xray whilst in Stock and 19T it was Rod Littau and Dwayne Flodell respectively that took home the class wins.

The new T2-007 debut its agility and quickness in its first test in the hands of the Canadian top guns earned the TQ position immediately, only to be challenged by other 007 drivers throughout the weekend.
