Cyril N’Diaye joins Team Xray

Cyril N'Diaye

Xray have the news on their site that they have signed French National Champion Cyril N’Diaye to race their T2007 car for the 2007 season. Cyril won the French National title in 2004 and again this year and joins an already strong European team that includes Jilles Groskamp and newly signed former European Champion Teemu Leino. Cyril had this to say about the move:

XRAY clearly wants to become the leading constructor, not only in touring cars, but also in 1/8th off-road and other classes… just look at their results to date! All current and future products will surely prove they are number 1. I am very happy to join the team, and am sure this is the best way for me to progress.

Xray Rumours

Rumours abound this time of year with manufacturers nearing their final preparations of new products for the upcoming season. Mostly rumours leak out in the form of sightings at private test sessions or team drivers informing friends or simply a case of wishful thinking. In this instance the rumours regarding Xray’s imminent release of a 1/10th 200mm gas car and 1/12th pan car has come from a number of sources and therefore I believe it to be fact.

Xray secure top 2 places in Curitibano Championship

Brazil Top 2

Having already won the Brazilian Curitibano Championship at the previous round, the pressure was off for new champion Fabiano Franco. This however didnt stop him in winning the last round to cement his position at the top of the Modified standings. Second place at the last round and 5 seconds back on Fabiano was team mate Flávio Salinet who managed to also secure second place in the championship ahead of Otávio Langowski who finished 3rd in the standings.

Sunday morning, with a cold wind, saw the start of the first heat with Flávio in 4th place at the end of the race. Flávio got 1st place with Fabiano Franco in 2nd: both XRAY TEAM DRIVERS. Heat after heat, Fabiano and Flávio were battling until heat 5.

Juraj Hudy on the debut of the Xray T2007

Xray Column

Juraj Hudy, chief designer and owner of Xray model racing cars, has posted his 3rd column reporting on life heading up the Slovakian company. This column reports on the build up to the World debut for the new T2007 at the International Indoor Championship (IIC) race in the US, and also on his approach to that race both before, during and of course after.

The teams received their cars around 2 weeks before the IIC race, so the stress and tension was on the team drivers now! Still, I was anxiously waiting for first reports. The first feedback started to come in few days later and I was very happy to hear that everybody reported that the new car worked perfectly right away, and improved lap times were achieved.

Danish Indoor Electric Touring Championship Rd2

Danish Indoor Round 2

Martin Lissau has written his report from the second round of the Danish National championships in which he finished 2nd. Martin has yet to take that top step of the podium with his new Xray T2007 having also taken 2nd place in the first round of the championship but we’re sure its only a matter of time before that happens.

The finals were not the best-driven finals in the world, but after some good battles and close racing (sometimes a bit too close) Jonas took first place. After Steen had some problems, I took the no. 2 spot and he took no. 3

More on the Xray T2007 bearing problem

Xray bearing

Like we reported a while back, the Xray T2007 has a problem with the bearings not lasting the distance. This was originally thought to be the not enough lubrication applied by the bearing manufacturer, well the scientists over in Xray did some more research and found that:

The situation is in fact due to the increased precision and higher tolerances of these ball-bearings; when dust or carpet fibres enter into the ball-bearing it becomes trapped and the ball-bearing locks up and unfortunately, this tends to happen sooner than the previous batch of ball-bearings.

Nice way to put a positive spin on it there guys. Anyway click here to find out what you should do to stop this and maintain your bearings.
