Yokomo YD-2RR rear motor conversion kit

Yokomo have introduced the YD-2RR rear motor conversion kit for the YD-2E and YD-2S RWD drift car kits. The set includes new gearbox halves that use a reduced amount of idler gears for better throttle response while an updated motor position, with the motor sitting closer to the rear axle, eliminates the unwanted pendulum effect. The newly designed “swingable” motor plate allows to rotate the motor in order to access different throttle and weight balance setups for a range of track conditions and a resin rear chassis brace offers controlled chassis flex for improved rear end response. The set is rounded out by a set of spacers that brings the body posts to the previous position as the shock tower is moved forward to make way for the spur gear. The conversion is a direct fit on the YD-2E and will fit the YD-2S using optional parts such as the E series upper decks, the Y2-303AR alloy or Y2-303MR plastic rear brace supports and and battery holder.

Arrowmax BD9 Medius mid-motor conversion kit

Following the release of the Medium mid-motor conversion kit for the Xray T4, Arrowmax now also introduce a kit specific to the Yokomo BD9 touring car. The mid-motor conversion will increase overall steering, traction and cornering speed while also making for easier handling characteristics. The chassis conversion is available as 2.25mm carbon fibre or 2.0mm alloy chassis variant, and it also includes a 2.0mm carbon fibre upper deck, a 7075 alloy single-piece motor mount, redesigned 7075 centre pulleys as well as a chassis stiffener that enables the owner to access different chassis flex settings.

Axon YD-series Revoshock dampers

Axon have introduced their new Revoshock dampers the Yokomo YD-2 and YD-4 drift cars. The big bore shock absorbers utilise 11.5mm diameter 16-hole shock pistons that run in HVF-coated threaded alloy shock bodies for ultra low friction. The clearance between the piston and shock body is only 0.025mm, ensuring minimal oil blow-by and thus predictable shock performance. New to the Revoshock is a revolutionary piston shaft seal design with the lower cartridge seals being a lot smaller in diameter compared to industry-standard P3 O-rings, which ensures the seals are not being pinched by the shock body which created a floating design that leads to virtually no friction between the seals and the shock shaft. Specially selected inner diameters of the upper S and lower SS-sized O-rings ensure the shocks are still as leak-free as possible while the HVF-coated piston shaft further reduce overall friction. The result is a shock absorber that is able to generate more traction due to being as smooth as possible. Included in the set come the shock bodies, upper and lower caps, spring pre-load collar as well as the piston rods and pistons. The plastic parts, pivot balls and shock springs are not included as these are parts that can be taken from the donor Yokomo shocks.

Bezerk YRX12’19 & P12 Evo carbon fibre chassis

Bezerk from Australia have announced the release of new carbon fibre main chassis for the Yokomo YRX12 2019 and Roche P12 Evo 1/12th scale pan cars. Starting with the YRX12 chassis, it is made from 2.5mm glossy plain weave carbon fibre and it offers more flex than the kit alloy or carbon chassis available from Yokomo. This helps with traction on low to medium grip tracks. Also available is a suitable lower pod plate. Over to the P12 Evo chassis, the main plate also offers increased flex over the standard part, however it is additionally available in stiff weave carbon for high grip conditions. A suitable lower motor pod plate is available from Bezerk as well.

RC Maker T4 & BD9 ceramic/ABEC7 bearing sets

RC Maker have introduced their new ceramic and ABEC7 steel ball bearing sets for the Xray T4 and Yokomo BD9 touring cars. Using ceramic ball races for the drivetrain and ABEC7 steel bearings for the hubs gives the best balance of longevity and performance. The ABEC7 bearings have extremely tight tolerances and prevent developing slop and notchiness, ensuring a smooth and efficient drivetrain for a very long time. The T4 and BD9 sets are available from now on.

Arrowmax Medius mid-motor conversion kits

Arrowmax is the latest company to announce the release of mid-motor conversion kits for the popular Xray T4 and Yokomo BD9 touring cars. The Medius called kits base on 2.25mm US weave carbon or 2.0mm machined aluminium chassis with 2.0mm carbon fibre upper decks and they utilise redesigned single-piece 7075 alloy motor mounts and centre pulleys. Included with the kits also come chassis stiffeners that allows to adjust chassis flex to suit current track conditions or driving styles. Arrowmax promise increased cornering speed, traction and steering in addition to improved ease of driving. The kits are meant to ship by the end of the month.

Rebellion-RC mid motor conversion kits – Coming soon

Rebellion-RC have released more teaser images of their forthcoming mid motor conversion kits for the Xray T4, Yokomo BD9 and BD8 as well as the Team Associated TC7.2. The kits centre around the patent pending sliding motor mount design that allows gear mesh adjustment through the chassis bottom, with the narrow design of the whole assembly ensuring the overall motor and battery width remains the same as in the standard cars, creating a very centralised weight distribution and less unwanted chassis roll compared to current mid motor conversions. In addition the design makes for an ultra low centre of gravity while allowing integrated flex settings. The sliding design also ensures a very wide gear mesh adjustment range, fitting up to 48T pinion and 114T main gears, making the conversion ideal for both stock and modified racing alike. Other features include a highest quality PA12 material 3-D-printed diff pulley that is precision CNC-milled for a perfect finish, a precision-machined stainless steel main shaft as well as the possibility to combine all three aluminium colour options of black, orange and natural with Rebellion-RC’s full range of carbon fibre twill colours. Not to be forgotten is a floating motor fan mount that attaches to the motor mount and that ensures lower motor temperatures while not disturbing natural chassis flex. Included with the kits, that are completely made in Austria, also come high-quality Bando Kevlar belts as well as all needed screws and bearings. The conversions are available for pre-order now and they will become available by August 1st.
