JConcepts YZ-2 DTM Punisher 2 body shell

Coming from JConcepts and made for the Yokomo YZ-2 DTM is the Punisher 2 body shell. The lid takes design elements of both the S2 and F2 bodies and sports a raised nose/hood section, taller cab and rear end force features. The sidepods are once again “JC chamfered” to provide that legendary look and the secondary window screams JConcepts styling. The cab drops off quickly and runs deep toward the rear giving plenty of drift to the newly added winglets. The tall, rear fin stabiliser acts as a vane to keep the buggy tracking in the proper direction while also maintaining a rigid roof-line even with lightweight materials. The package is available as standard or lightweight variant, arrives complete with two Aero S-type wings as used by Ryan Maifield to claim the 2017 IFMAR World Championship.

JConcepts YZ4-SF S1 body shell

Coming from JConcepts is the S1 body shell for the Yokomo YZ4-SF 4WD buggy. One of the most recognisable items, the Silencer body style, has now been designed as the original manufacturer kit body for the Yokomo YZ4-SF buggy. It features the common Silencer attributes such as a profiled cockpit and cubicle side-pods, a slight recess just behind the cab with channeling out the rear, and the side-pods have a clipped rear-end, narrowing the rear by angling in just in front of the rear tyres. The main pods are lightly chamfered front and rear allowing plenty of paint and decal access. The end result has the body looking extremely low-profile with heavy JConcepts edginess and appeal. The Silencer is capped off with a cockpit shark fin for more high-speed tracking stability and increased roof stiffness. The package includes two S-Type wings pre-marked for the Yokomo YZ2 and YZ4-SF for the easiest application. Also the body has two cut lines to choose from. The most open cut line can change the performance or aide in the cooling inside the body. The more aggressive (larger opening) cut line is preferred on outdoor tracks or where ambient temperatures are really warm.

Yukijiro Umino departs Yokomo

In what has come as a big shock, Yukijiro Umino has announced his departure from Japanese company Yokomo. Yukijiro, a top racer in his own right, is best known for his role as chief designer of the company’s touring car platform and for being Ronald Völker’s race engineer. One of the most successful partnerships in RC, the pair dominated the ETS for 5 seasons between 2010 and 2015, took numerous European, Reedy race and National titles and finally took a long awaited and well-deserved IFMAR World title back in 2016. Yukijiro has yet to announce his new destination but has released the following statement:

I wish to announce that after 22 great years with the company, from the 25th of January I will no longer be working for Yokomo. I want to give a big thank you to everyone at Team Yokomo, my co-workers, team and especially to Tom Yokobori for what has been an amazing opportunity. I also want to give a special thank you to Ronald Volker with whom I have worked so closely over the past 9 year and achieved so much together. And finally I want to thank my family for their support throughout this journey. I wish to let everyone know that, as I have always done, I will never stop challenging and never give up. Avid CPD 1/10th buggy slipper pads

Coming from Avid are the CPD Consistent Power Delivery slipper pads for many of today’s electric off-road buggies. The slipper pads are of a new material designed with the focus of providing a larger tuning window while also being able to handle higher temps. This allows for less slipper fade during a run and drivers don’t have to adjust their buggy’s slipper setting nearly as often to maintain the same track feel. The pads are available for the standard Team Associated and Yokomo slippers and also for Avid’s own Triad Evo units.
