Yokomo YD-2 1/10th RWD drift chassis

Yokomo YD-2 1/10th 2WD drift chassis

Coming soon from Yokomo is the YD-2 rear wheel drive drift car chassis kit. Specially designed for RWD drifting the car features a specially designed chassis with an unique transmission and motor layout that reminds of 2WD mid motor dirt buggies with its high layshaft position. The somewhat higher centre of gravity makes for improved chassis roll during cornering while the front suspension parts allow for the high steering angles needed for drifting. Available as composite or carbon fibre chassis variant the car allows to use standard or shorty LiPo battery packs, it utilises new rear YD-2 hub carriers, YD-4 parts fit as a setup option, and the kit comes with a large rear diffusor. The YD-2 is set for a release this Spring.

T-Works BD7-2016 Tweak Terminator blocks

T-Works BD7-2016 Tweak Terminator blocks

Coming from T-Works are the Tweak Terminator positioning blocks especially made for the Yokomo BD7-2016 touring car. The 2016 edition of Yokomo’s successful tourer sports very low profile shock towers which let the spur gear protrude above the shock towers, making the use of anti-tweak rods impossible in most cases. To overcome this problem T-Works have introduced the Tweak Terminator blocks that sit snuggly on top of the shock towers and between the left and right bulkhead halves to ensure a taller platform for the tweak rods, clearing the spur gear. The blocks are machined from aluminium, they come black anodised and laser-etched for easy identification.

Yokomo BD7-16 hard carbon chassis & soft upper deck

Yokomo BD7-16 hard carbon chassis & soft upper deck

Yokomo have introduced two new option parts for the BD7-2016 touring car in the form of a hard carbon fibre chassis and a soft carbon fibre upper deck. Starting with the chassis, it is designed for low to medium grip tracks and cut from a new carbon weave that offers increased torsional strength while being slightly thinner, providing a better balanced front-to-rear grip, resulting in improved corner speed and initial steering. The chassis is characterised by three slots under the main gear section and two additional cuts along the battery and electronics compartment. Also new is the soft upper deck for the use with the optional aluminium chassis. The softer top deck provides improved traction and a more progressive feel which translates to increased side bite. The part was in use by the Yokomo team during the recent ETS round in Austria, being a favourite among those modified and stock drivers that opted to run an alloy chassis.

Team C BD7 & GT8 progressive shock system

Team C BD7 & GT8 progressive shock system

Team C Racing have introduced a progressive shock system for the Yokomo BD7 as well as their GT8 1/8th on-road kits. Adapting a popular design the system utilises tube-style inserts with triangular-shaped openings as well as plain shock pistons. The inserts are used the standard shock housings and the plain pistons are used in place of the drilled standard ones while the triangular openings in the tubes allow the oil to bypass the piston on compression. With ongoing compression the opening above the piston becomes smaller, resulting in a progressive, harder dampening that can lead to faster corner speeds and improved stability. The BD7 set included four inserts and four pistons while the GT8 set is available separately for the front and the rear of the car.
