Daniel Kobbevik signs Yokomo deal

Former Team Associated driver Daniel Kobbevik has signed a 2-year deal with Japanese manufacturer Yokomo. The Norwegian frontrunner, who so far is the youngest driver ever to make an Electric Buggy European Championship A-main, will use Yokomo cars and electronics through to 2017 and he has the following to say:

It’s fantastic for me to get this chance, I can’t wait to run and race with the Yokomo products, I look forward to join the Team and I see the spirit to work together in this Team is important. Big Thanks to Lee Martin that brought me into this. I felt this was the right thing for me to do now and I really look forward to get to know the people at Yokomo. It’s not easy to say goodbye to old team mates, and I will also thank Craig Drescher that brought me into Team Associated and Brent Thielke for the time and I wish everybody at Team Associated/Reedy good luck! I will remember the good memories and the support I got, and we managed to let me be the youngest ever making an A-main at Euros.

Vigor RC T4 & BD7 optional parts

Vigor RC T4 & BD7 optional parts

Vigor RC is a new brand in the very competitive aftermarket parts game and the first products to show are aluminium and graphite chassis, graphite top decks as well as double joint driveshafts for the Xray T4 and Yokomo BD7 cars. Starting with the aluminium chassis, the main plates made from high-quality 7075 material are only 83mm wide and they are meant to provide more steering and a smoother ride in a range of track conditions. As for the carbon counterparts, they are available in 2.0mm and 2.25mm variants while the carbon top decks come in 1.6mm and 2.0mm thickness. All parts are made to fine-tune the cars to different grip levels. Last but not least are the front double joint driveshafts. They are made from high-quality spring steel, they sport laser-etched markings for easy identifications and feature an industry-standard hard-coating for durability and looks.

Yokomo YD-4 1/10th drift car chassis kit

Yokomo YD-4 1/10th drift car chassis kit

Available soon from Yokomo is the all-new YD-4 1/10th scale 4WD drift car chassis kit. Designed by Matsuzaki Hayato the car builds on a low centre of gravity double deck carbon fibre chassis with enclosed shaft drivetrain and a special front motor layout. The steering servo, receiver and speed controller find their place in the centre to rear part of the chassis while the battery compartment for shorty or standard-type LiPos is placed in the front to centre part of the chassis. This very centralised weight distribution greatly improves drift angle stability and initial responsiveness of the car while a specially designed slide rack steering combined with a narrow scrub front king-pin angle allows for high steering angles of up to 55 degree with optimised Ackermann settings. Also included are highly rigid H-arms that further help to create large steering angles. Newly designed and 2mm lower differential cases allow the use of Drift Package Series diffs while the new position makes for an overall lower centre of gravity as do the low-profile carbon fibre shock towers with multiple shock mounting positions. Special spring cups allow the use of long-type shock springs for a sharp yet predictable driving performance. The kit, that will become available in January, is rounded out by a moulded rear diffusor.
