Tamiya TA07 Pro 1/10th 4WD touring car kit

Following a first unofficial image of Tamiya’s TA07 Pro club-level touring car the Japanese manufacturer now officially revealed the all-new on-road platform. The kit makes use the lower TRF419 suspension with the chassis being a totally new design featuring a composite chassis plate to which an outer frame connects. The goal is to achieve optimised flex characteristics, compared to the class-standard tub chassis, while offering an easy to build and maintain platform. The transmission of the TA07 Pro is of a 1-belt design that allows to shift the motor and layshaft mount forth and back in order to alter the car’s overall weight distribution with the kit offering three different positions with a mid, mid-rear and rear motor position being possible. Other features of the Pro kit include high-performance TRF shock absorbers, TRF driveshafts as well as a range of blue anodised option parts such as ball studs, turnbuckles, and motor mount. To sum up our exclusive series of stories on Xray’s all-new RX8 2016 1/8th nitro on-road kit, including the making off part 1 and part 2 as well as the exclusive interview with designer Martin Hudy, we now have all details and images of the company’s all-new top-of-the-foodchain 1/8th kit available. The 2016 specification car received a massive make-over that starts with the all-new aluminium backbone in the form of full aluminium bulkheads, layshaft and radio plate mounts to ensure a strong yet lightweight framework while still allowing maximum flex characteristics for increased traction. Beside the bulkheads also the suspension mounts are made up using aluminium for maximised precision and durability.

Coming from Team Associated is a limited edition run of the rear motor B5 1/10th 2WD buggy including a B5M conversion kit. Based on the original B5 the kit includes all needed parts to convert the vehicle into a mid-motor B5M, including the main chassis, suspension and gearbox parts. Included is also the B5 bodyshell but the needed B5M body has to be purchased separately.

Serpent announce new 1/8th electric RTR kits

During this week’s 2016 Beijing Hobby Show Serpent is displaying two forthcoming, electric-powered 1/8th scale RTR vehicles. Adding to the company’s impressive +30 cars line-up soon are the Cobra RTR E-Truggy and the Cobra RTR electric monster truck. More information on the 6S LiPo-compatible vehicles will become available in time for the release.

SMJ release official CX11 images

Japanse company SMJ have released first official images of their forthcoming CX11 1/10th electric touring car kit. Based on a “Coke bottle”-shaped 2.25mm carbon fibre main chassis for optimised flex characteristics the design also uses a minimum of screws to reduce the overall weight and make for easy maintenance and setup. Different from today’s touring cars the CX11 features bulkhead-mounted suspension holders to minimise tweak issues and to make for a more natural flex of the chassis. Composite inserts allow for toe and anti-squat adjustments and the kit furthermore features an integrated steering and floating servo mount, dual joint front driveshafts, short big bore shock absorbers, hard compound A-arms and hubs, a specially shaped front bumper ideal for Protoform’s LTC-R bodyshell and the kit is rounded out by a genuine Axon TCS 64 pitch 112T spur gear. The kit is meant to kit stores this Spring.

Axial Yeti Score Trophy Truck kit

Axial have introduced the Yeti Score Trophy Truck in kit form. The purposely engineered desert truck features a solid rear axle and independent front suspension, designed for the roughest of conditions and real dot. Full-size Trophy Trucks inspired the distinct aesthetic and technical elements of this truck, right down to the solid rear axle while the retro inspired body features design queues from a 1960’s era roof-line, classic 1970’s wheel arches and glass shapes from the 1980’s. Giving this kit an extra bit of modern contrast comes in the form of fluorescent orange Method 105 wheels. This kit version will accept standard 1/10th scale brushed and brushless 4-pole systems and most major stick pack batteries. Precision machined aluminium shocks are standard equipment and deliver smooth suspension movement for consistent handling.

Tamiya is currently working on a new club-level touring car platform, the TA07 Pro. A first rendering shows what appears to be a belt-driven 4WD car with an exoskeleton that makes up the upper deck. The front and rear shock towers are composite plastic parts to which standard length shock absorbers attach. Other features visible include a floating servo mount, a composite motor/sensor port cover and a possible quick release battery mount. More information and images should become available in time for the forthcoming Shizuoka Hobby Show in mid-May where is TA07 Pro is believed to make a first public appearance.

SWorkz S12-1R 1/10th 2WD mid motor buggy

Following the S12-1M 1/10th 2WD mid motor buggy, dedicated for high-grip carpet and astro turf racing, SWorkz have now introduced the S12-1R kit with dirt-specific mid motor and gearbox layout. Different from the 1M the 1R features an “upright” gearbox with high layshaft and a motor position close to the differential, a setup that is known to produce more rear traction than the laydown gearbox found on the 1M. Apart from that the dirt specific car features a 3mm aluminium main chassis that allows to run four different battery positions, it utilises aluminium front and carbon fibre rear shock towers, and the kit includes the Pure Oil Shock System, non-bladder shock absorbers. Included with the buggy also comes the Eaglet bodyshell that is meant to provide loads of rear end grip and front downforce.
