Serpent 966 1/8th scale chassis

Serpent have release some CAD images of their new 1/8th scale chassis, the 966. Retaining the same front end as on the 960, the main innovations happen at the rear end where there is a completely new assembly. More accessible and stronger, the rear bulkheads are made from aluminium and sport a seperate set of blocks for both the 2-speed shaft/brakes and the lower suspension arm mounts. The rear axle eccenters have been made from aluminium and together with the anodising, the new materials help to create a perfect alignment for all the moving parts. Other changes include a carbon fibre upper suspension arm mount, new chassis plate & chassis stiffeners and updated, smoother shock absorbers.

Exclusive – Corally RDX Phi 2

Seen in the Corally pits at the DHI Cup in Denmark, which Red RC are covering live, is the new yet to be released follow up to the RDX Phi, the Phi 2. Featuring a new chassis as well as new front and rear bulkheads, the car has essentially been designed to accept LiPo cells. Retaining the same transmission from the previous car, the upper deck is now higher thanks to changes made to the bulk heads and this enables the LiPo packs to fit. Some other new changes include wider set lower wishbone supports as well as the all new chassis itself.

HongNor X2 1/8th scale buggy

The follow up to the X1, HongNor have released the X2, developed using feedback given to them by their team drivers, in particular from those in the US. Jay Halsey from Jammin, had spent a lot of time testing and came up with this world class buggy for the 2008 World Championships. The intention was to have a very fast low weight car without sacrificing the durability of the model. The car is stronger than most models on the market and while the steering geometry has not been changed, the weight distribution has. The chassis is narrower with the engine moved forward and more to the center, they have gone away from the center universals and added light-weight aircraft grade alloy center drive shafts. The Center differential mount is the same design as the optional aluminium mount but is now made from a lighter nylon to save weight. The Front and rear towers are a 4mm carbon fibre further reducing weight and the company’s new BT-118 tires and ultra light wheels are included and are proving to be a popular wheel and tire choice. Also included is their optional long life silver clutch shoes and 16mm big bore shock absorbers along with the suggested springs to suit. Finally a new body has been designed for this model with a separate nose cone.
