Shepherd Velox – Brake System

 Shepherd Velox - Brake System

Shepherd Micro Racing have sent us further information on their soon to be released 1/8th scale circuit car, the Velox. Focusing on the car’s “Direct-V-Brake system” they tell us that they had to check many material combinations to find the very best result that they have now. To get durable braking without brake fading, or even complete loss of braking, they had to find the right material, which they did with a special hardware that resulted in great braking efficiency, durable braking, long life brake pads and simple maintanance. With this braking system you can brake hard, with maximum control, and because the brake doesn’t need any complicated adjustments, you can simply assemble the parts in the right place and the brake will work perfectly from the beginning.

Shepherd Micro Racing Velox

Shepherd Micro Racing Velox

As we have published several times before, including an in depth report from the World Championships in Argentina, Shepherd Micro Racing will release their latest 1/8th scale, the Velox, very soon.

After an extensive test stage Shepherd are proud to offer a sophisticated and well-engineered product soon. It was always important for us to develop a model that suits both the hobby driver and the pure competition racer. The potential of this car has already been on both a national and international setting with a 3rd and a 4th place obtained by Robert Pietsch at this years Lostallo and Grenoble EFRA GPs. Also at the European Championship in Lostallo Robert just missed out on the final with an 11th place, while at the World Championship in Cordoba he also just missed the final, placing 15th overall due to being bumped from the track while in third position in his semi-final. The biggest success so far however has been the victory of Robert Pietsch and the 6th place of Patrick Schäfer at the 2007 German 1/8th scale National Championships.

Radical RC Z8 1/8th scale buggy

Radical RC Z8 1/8th scale buggy

Introducing the new Z8 from Radical RC, a 1/8th scale buggy that is said to feature some new and innovative design features. However, this buggy is very much the same of all others on the market, sporting CVD’s on all 4 corners, 5mm thick alu shock towers, carbon fibre radio tray, alu chassis braces, big bore shocks etc., and while it has a good spec the only outstanding, or innovative, feature is that this Pro Kit comes with a Lifetime Replacement Warranty on all plastic chassis parts. While it wont make you go around the track any faster, it will help you in the learning process of going quickly, and is a good selling point for beginners to this class. This warranty will also be available on the RTR version of the Z8 Buggy when it comes out.

CEFX C12 Phoenix 1/12th scale

CEFX C12 Brushless released

A while ago we showed you some CAD images from the new C12 1/12th scale from Josh Cyrul’s company CEFX, well it appears the car is now ready and here are some photos of the new car, the C12 Phoenix. This is the version for brushless motors, which as explained previously had to be made seperately from the original brushed motor version, as trying to make a car work for both motor types would mean too much of a compromise for both.

ALS Racing M242 1/24th scale

ALS Racing have released the first pictures of their new 1/24th scale chassis, called the M242. Designed specifically for use on carpet, the car is powered by 2 Lipo cells or 6 AAA cells and due to its design and construction, as well as newly designed ball differential, the car can achieve high cornering speeds and provide lots of racing fun. This micro scale seems to be garnering some interest from a number of manufacturers with the news that Serpent will release its own car into this class after the new car was spotted at the recent iHobby show in Chicago.
