AKA Chain Link & Rasp 1/8th tires

AKA Chain Link & Rasp 1/8th tires

Seen for the first time at the 2015 Dirt Nitro Challenge, AKA have officially released their new 1/8th Chain Link and Rasp thread patterns. The Chain Link is a unique tread pattern that works very well on low dust, grooved up tracks. The large low profile lugs keep wear at a minimum while adding consistency throughout your run. The open tread pattern gives the dust large voids to move to so the tread pattern can grip the clean surface and glide through ruts with ease. The Rasp is a small pin tread pattern which is ideal for hard packed tracks with a dusty surface. The lower profile tread allows your car to get in and out of corners effortlessly with an emphasis on forward bite. The Rasp makes a great qualifying tire to get you that TQ! Both are available in the championship winning super soft, soft, and medium compounds and as with all AKA tires, they are designed and proudly made in the USA.

They were used with great success at the recent ICC race in Essex by Schumacher drivers Elliott Harper and Michal Orlowski to take 3rd and 5th place against some tough competition.

Wild Turbo Fan BTA ESC fan mount

Wild Turbo Fan BTA ESC fan mount

New from Wild Turbo Fan is this ‘Blow Them All’ ESC fan mount. From studying the air flow patten of modern day ESC they found that no matter how powerful the ESC fan is, if the air flow is restricted the cooling will not be effective. By placing the ESC fan at an angle suddenly the cooling air can reach the ESC casing, soldering terminal and front area of the motor. The effect is like having extra cooling fans that also effectively cool the ESC at the same time without any extra wiring and power consumption, and best of all the fan mount only weighs 2 grams. Tested at the recent TITC race in Thailand, drivers reported that both the ESC and Motor were cooler by 10 degree C with the new fan mount.

RB announce 2015 nitro engine range

French company RB introduce their 2015 line of nitro engines for off-road and on-road applications. The range will include three .21 off-road, two .21 on-road, four .12 on-road and one Rally/GT engine, starting with the BXR LS5 Plus off-road engine. The high-level off-road competition engine uses a long stroke design with 5-port MES technology, a 14.5mm silicone-balanced lightweight crankshaft and a ceramic main bearing. The newly developed carburettor is using double adjustment with an extra spraybar for improved idling and adjustment. The new cooling head is of a low centre of gravity design yet large enough to provide efficient cooling. The BXR LS5 Plus offers a unique combination of power and consumption and the engine is ideal for both tight and open tracks with high grip and a good amount of jumps.

Kawada F500WS formula kit – Coming soon

Kawada F500WS formula kit – Coming soon

Kawada has released a preview image of their forthcoming F500WS formula car kit. It appears to build on several parts taken over from the company’s W500 1/12th and 1/10th pan car range with a purpose-designed double wishbone wide track front suspension and a rear link-type suspension that makes use of in-line roll damper as seen on the TRG formula cars. The slim carbon fibre chassis features a stand-up steering servo mount that obviously can be shifted forth and back to fine-tune the steering geometry while the shorty battery mount also allows to shift the pack forth and back. Other features or general information so far remain in the dark but it is understood that Kawada tries to have the kit available by April.

Break-in Dutch develops new engine break-in method

Dutch company develops new engine break-in method

Break-in Dutch have developed what they claim is an effective new way to break-in new nitro engines. Usable with .12 to .21 engines the rotating parts of the engine are submerged in a container filled with heated oil while the crankshaft is rotated by an electric motor. The temperature and RPM is computer controlled and fluctuates in a range of up to 200 degree Celsius and up to 3,000RPM to ensure an effective yet safe breaking-in process. Additional torque vectoring control ensures the engine is broken-in correctly and it can be used on the track straight away.
