Serpent Medius X20FWD front-wheel drive kit

Following a first teaser image Serpent now fully unveiled their all-new Medius X20FWD 1/10th scale front-wheel drive touring car kit. The kit builds on the popular X20 4WD mid-motor touring car and it utilises a strong yet lightweight 1-piece motor mount concept that does away with any interference between the front and rear chassis flex while still allowing centre flex adjustability. The result is a design that allows maximum flex capabilities without having a negative impact on the drivetrain, meaning smoother power delivery, more consistency and less chance of stripping spurs. The kit makes use of the X20’s suspension concept with front and rear pivot ball hubs, flex-adjustable lower arms, and 50mm shock absorbers with 12mm shock bodies. Ultra-low anti-roll bars help keeping the centre of gravity as low as possible while the integrated motor and servo mount allows to access a new way of chassis flex control. The multi-functional battery mounting system enables the driver to place the battery in three different ways – transversal, offset and inline – to best suit the given track conditions while the included gear differential is widely tunable using different thickness silicone fluids. The kit will become available in a carbon or aluminium chassis variant and it will hit stores by the end of April. Update: In the meantime first images of the production kit became available. You can find them at the end of this feature.

Exotek 22 aluminium drag & SC rear body mounts

Made for TLR’s 22 series of 2WD vehicles is Exotek’s aluminium rear body mount set for the use with drag racing or short course body shells. The simpler, stronger, and lighter body mounting system was developed for the rear of the 22SCT 3.0 or 22 buggies converted with street drag bodies. The mounts line up with the stock shock tower holes, attach directly to the vehicle’s quick change shock posts and still allow owners to select any shock tower holes for the shocks. They have to be used with optional stock 22SCT body posts and the mounts are machined from 7075 alloy and anodised black with silver chamfer edges for a low weight of only 8.6g for the set whereas the stock SCT body system weighs in at 21g.

Team Associated 1/10th off-road 1/0.5 arm mount inserts

Coming from Team Associated and made for the all B6 series kits, the B74, T6.1, SC6.1, and B64 1/10th scale off-road vehicles are the new 1/0.5 arm mount inserts. Moulded in black plastic and coming with eight per package, they help to try new settings not previously available with the current inserts. The 1/0.5 inserts help fill in the blanks and give a 0.5 step option where pilots previously only could adjust things in 1.0 steps, 1.0-up or 1.0-corner, filling out the finer settings on the outer perimeter of our current adjustment grid. The new design holds the hinge pin 1 degree (or 0.7mm) offset UP and 0.5 degree (or 0.35mm) offset on or out. When turned sideways, racers can do 1 degree out and 0.5 degree up or down. There is a Type 1 and Type 2 cavity – hole locations must mirror each other – so mechanics must watch when installing to keep them symmetrical.

JConcepts L8D “decked” late model body shell

JConcepts is following up with a new trend on the Dirt Oval scene with the “decked” version of the L8 night body. Late model vehicles are among the highest class of stock car vehicles in the United States and specialize in wheel to wheel racing while bringing the crowd to its feet. The 10” wide body capable of a drop-fit on an assortment of Late Model chassis, the body styling starts up front with a heavily dropped nose pointing the vehicle in the correct direction. Super tall “power rails” line the front fenders allowing corner tracking stability. The “deck” treatment starts with a mock driver cockpit, then multiple cut-in lovers strengthen the deck while an inner transition starts giving the L8D an inner spoiler to ramp up with. The offset, and separate cab bolts into position with included hardware and once positioned, provides the high-speed through-all stability with open wind shield and rear window design. An asymmetrical designed cab for high-speed left turning has the built-in ability to trim-out the front, rear and side windows for scale appearance and performance. The rear jump window can be left in place, made clear with included window masks for added deflection and to strengthen the cab.
