Orlowski takes opening 2WD qualifying

Michal Orlowski has TQ’d the opening round of 2WD qualifying at the Euro Offroad Series in Slovakia this morning. The Schumacher driver claimed the first of the four scheduled qualifiers at the Hudy Racing Arena from Team Associated’s Carson Wernimont with Yokomo’s Marc Rheinard completing the Top 3. Having set the pace in yesterday’s seeding practice champion Lee Martin would post the fourth fastest time.

Matsukura sends out message in 4WD practice

Naoto Matsukura has topped 4WD practice at the season finale of the Euro Offroad Series in Slovakia.  Having opened Season #4 of the EOS in Poland with a double win for Yokomo but then splitting with the team, the series returning Japanese driver said his blistering pace in the second of the timed practice was a message to his rivals that he and his Kyosho team are a force to be reckoned with in this world championship year. Although free practice pace setter and last year’s Hudy Racing Arena round winner Martin Bayer had problems in TP2, Matsukura would end Day 1 of the event an impressive one and a half second’s faster than the Xray driver who in turn was 1.1 seconds faster than Schumacher’s 3rd placed Michal Orlowski. 3-seconds off Lee Martin would be the fastest Yokomo with the fourth fastest time.

Bayer heads 4WD free practice in Slovakia

Having topped 2WD timed practice, Martin Bayer carried his form over to 4WD with the Xray driver heading the times after three rounds of free practice. Double winner at the Hudy Racing Arena last year, the former European Champion would record the fastest 3-consecutive laps in the second practice with Kyosho’s Naoto Matsukura closest, only 0.235 of a second off.  Although over 1.4 seconds off Bayer, reigning champion Joern Neumann would complete the Top 3, the German happy to be faster than his only title rival Lee Martin who ended up fourth.

Bayer tops timed 2WD practice at EOS finale

Martin Bayer has topped timed practice for 2WD at the EOS season final with last year’s Hudy Racing Arena winner setting the fastest 3-consecutive laps from Yokomo’s Lee Martin. Third fastest in free practice, the Xray driver improved by over a second to put himself top seed for qualifying with the morning’s pace setter Martin just 0.021 off.  Behind them, Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski would complete the Top 3 ahead of the Associated of former Top Qualifier Carson Wernimont.  For former champion Joern Neumann the two sessions would see the Serpent driver end up only 13th fastest two positions behind US star Ryan Cavalieri.

Martin sets early practice at EOS

Newly crowned Euro Offroad Series 2WD Champion Lee Martin has set the early pace at season finale at the Hudy Racing Arena. With the first official day of the event getting underway with three rounds of free practice, Martin’s Yokomo topped the times from the Kyosho of former team-mate & champion Naoto Matsukura. Winner of the Slovakian round last year, when the race was the third on the four round calendar, Team Xray’s Martin Bayer would post the third fastest 3-consecutive lap time.

EFRA 200mm Euros Warm-up race – Announcement

The warm-up race for the 2015 EFRA 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring Car European Championships A & B will be held on the 4th and 5th of July at the impressive EFMOD facility in Izmir, Turkey. Run on a repaved 430 metre track with a 70 metre straight the event will also see the running of the second round of the Turkish On-road Nationals. More information can be found here and here.

Alberto Alonso wins 1/8th class at Spanish Nats Rd2

During last weekend’s 2nd round of the Spanish Nitro On-road Nationals Alberto Alonso took the win in the 45 minute final of the 1/8th scale class. Starting from 6th on the grid Alberto took over the lead in lap 59 and due to different fuel stop strategies the positions changed a few times between Alberto and Sergio Montesinos but Alberto kept the lead in the final portion of the race and ultimately took the win, scoring important points for the overall national ranking in which he now sits in 1st place. The podium was completed by David Castellano and Sergio Rivas in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Paparegas wins Northern Greece Buggy Champs Rd2

The 2nd round of the Northern Greek Buggy Championship was held at the Serres Hobbytech track on a new, technical layout with many jumps. Tasos Paparegas took the pole position and he also scored the fastest lap of the race but he was denied the win because of a battery failure. Instead his brother John took the winning honours from Perogianakis with Margaritis rounding out the podium in 3rd.
