WCICS Rd6 at Fastraxx – Report

WCICS Rd6 at Fastraxx – Report

The Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series visited the wide open prairies of Saskatchewan, this time in Moose Jaw for Round 6, hosted by Fastraxx. A little town with a big race, and as the countdown to the finals begins the championships battles are getting close. The Touring Car Modified class offered the most dramatic high-speed main of the weekend. This time Danny Buck and his Xray had pole, but an early mistake put him back to 5th. Korgae Scales and his Awesomatix then had the lead for the first minute, but Steve Soon, who had started 2nd on the grid, took the lead on lap 6 with his Serpent and never looked back. Danny battled all the way back and passed Korgae with just a minute to go to take 2nd. Korgae brought his Awesomatix home 3rd.

Justin Driemeier wins at JConcepts INS Rd1

Justin Driemeier wins at JConcepts INS Rd1

Last weekend saw the opening round of the JConcepts Indoor National Series, held at Smac Trak Raceway near St. Louis, MO. Over 270 entries gathered for some great racing on this tight high traction indoor circuit. In the 8-minute Short Course A main, TQ Luke Richards made an unforced early error allowing Paul Sinclair through into the lead for a couple of laps before he touched a tube and fell back. Justin Driemeier, driving patiently from 2nd on the grid, took over the lead with Matt Gosch hot on his tail. They had a great battle for several laps before Matt made an error and fell back a few seconds. Meanwhile, TQ Richards was fighting his way back up through the pack, catching up to Driemeier in the closing laps. Richards went for the pass on the last lap leading up to the double, but his transmission failed on the way up the hill, and there the truck sat, letting the next three trucks through and allowing Driemeier to take the win.

Ben Panic wins Lap Paradise 1/8th Offroad League Rd2

Round 2 of the Lap Paradise 1/8th Offroad League in Johor Bahru, Malaysia was held on a newly installed layout over the weekend. A new back section imitated the famed C-Netic track in Indonesia and it challenged the field as it was a lot tighter than the Indonesian version. With a good watering overnight by the track crew the first half of the day was run on a grooved track. Four rounds of qualifying split the drivers in to Christmas tree finals. By the time the finals came around the track had dried out, the groove was still there but the line was very tight and it was loose and dusty everywhere else with ruts forming.

Volker & Prumper complete ETS podium

Volker & Prumper complete ETS podium

Ronald Volker and Yannic Prumper completed the podium at Round 2 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Germany after the Yokomo pairing claimed a 1-2 finish in the 3rd A-main.  With Marc Rheinard wrapping up his first ETS win on carpet in 5-years with a second win of the weekend in A2 and sitting out A3, the closing race of the record breaking event would see Volker lead an uneventful race from start to finish.  Behind him Prumper, despite making early attempts to pass his team-mate would run the entire race in second despite coming under pressure from a much improved Alexander Hagberg in the closing laps.  Winner of the event last year, Hagberg would be classified 4th overall followed by Viktor Wilck and Christopher Krapp, all drivers having started the leg with a chance of a podium finish.
