Tasos Paparegas wins Greek Buggy Championship

Tasos Paparegas wins Greek Buggy Championship

The final round of the Greek 1/8th Off-Road Championship was held at the Zorri track in Athens in sunny and hot weather conditions. Tasos Pagaregas took the TQ for the finals but he had to battle against some very fast local drivers who would also put some massive pressure on him in the 45 minute final. Right from the start Makropoulos, Tsigkos and Perogianakis, who were the podium finishers of a race held the week before, chased Tasos hard who suffered a major problem after the second pitstop when a stone got stuck between a front arm and the chassis. Tasos drove that way for at least 10 minutes and he lost the lead after building an 11 second gap. Later in the race Tasos had to protect his spot against Zagorisos, who had worked his way up coming from 10th on the grid. Then, at the 25 minute mark, Tasos heavily crashed his car into the barriers after a driving error but the stone that blocked the suspension got loose and he was able to work his way up again to take the win in front of Zagorisos in 2nd and Makropoulos in 3rd place. The win at the final round of the championship handed Tasos the overall title with his brother John taking the runner-up spot.
