Carmine Raiola wins at Novarossi Trophy

The 10th Novarossi Trophy was held in Gubbio this past weekend. In the 1/8th nitro on-road class Carmine Raiola came out successful in the 30 minute final. Two laps down Marco Vanni completed the main in 2nd position while Alberto Tedeschi completed the race in 3rd place.

Joseph Quagraine wins Finnish 1/8th off-road champs

JQ Products’ Joseph Quagraine has won this year’s Finnish 1/8th off-road national championship for the 3rd time in a row. This year’s series showed some promising signs of a new generation of drivers getting into the fight for wins, with Joona Haatanen, Max Mört, and Joonas Hyvärinen all showing great form and huge improvements this year. In the 4th and final round Joseph (JQ/Reds/AKA) came out successful in front of Jarno Siltanen (Mugen/Novarossi/Beta) and Samppa Orhanen (Kyosho/Alpha/Beta). In the overall championship Ari Heinonen (Kyosho/Alpha/Beta) took the runner-up spot behind Joseph with Joona Haatanen (AE/Novarossi/JC) completing the top 3.

Better late than never? I guess that is my theme for this entry as we all recover from the long world championship event. It seems everyone got sick after the event too which has led to a long recovery and hang-over. I ask my myself immediately following the 60 minute A-final event. So if you win on Sunday or in this case on Saturday, do you sell on Monday? That is why we are all there right? A promotion to help ignite sales of the product. Everyone should be lined up to buy all the latest product that was on the winning ride starting with the Hot Bodies D812….right?

ORRCA Queensland Electric Onroad Titles – Report

The 2014 ORRCA Queensland Electric Onroad Titles where run at the regional holiday resort town of Hervey Bay in Queensland, at the last weekend of September. The date for the event is fixed to coincide with Australian school holidays in order to encourage juniors to participate, and it was great to see a number of young drivers racing in the event. Most drivers had travelled from Brisbane to take part, and there also were quite a few drivers from regional Queensland. Classes that are at the titles run are Modified, 13.5T and 21.5T electric all running on Sorex tires. The Modified class was won by a familiar winner of this event; Hot Bodies driver Jason Dorn (TQ), from Corey Broadstock (Xray) and Brad McDonald (Yokomo).

TORCH Dash For Cash GP – Announcement

The TORCH 1/10th Electric Offroad Dash for Cash GP will take place on Sunday 19th October. The format will be one round of timed practice, 4 rounds of qualifying and one 7 minute final for all. Prizes for top three in all finals plus, and this is the different bit, £50 cash top prize for the top finisher in each BRCA formula grade F1 through to F5. Formula grades will be based on current 2014 grading used in this year’s regionals and nationals. Places will limited to first 100 entries for 2WD and 4WD Buggy. Spanish electric on-road nationals Rd2 – Report

The 2nd and final round of the Spanish national federations series was held under changing weather conditions which caused some headache for the pilots of the three classes of Touring Car Modified, Stock and Formula 1. In the Modified class Gonzalo Garcia (Yokomo) took the day’s win from CSO driver Sergio Gomez in 2nd and David Bustos (TOP) in 3rd place. In the overall championship Gonzalo Garcia grabbed the title from runner-up David Bustos (TOP) and David Lara (TOP) in 3rd place.

Alexander Naumov wins Russian 200mm nationals

This year’s Russian nitro on-road championships took place at the Zarechny track near Penza. Alexander Naumov took the TQ in the 200mm class after the qualifiers and in the final at first it was Vladislav Glebov who took the lead but a few laps later Alexander was able to overtake Vladislav to get into 1st place. Around halftime Alexander had extended his lead to 3 laps and with 10 minutes to go he slowed his pace to save on tyres on the very abrasive track. Despite running out of rubber in the closing stages Alexander Naumov took the win and the championship some 2 laps in front of Vladislav Glebov. Sergei Piskunov completed the podium in 3rd place.
