Olivier Bultnyck takes Rd6 in Belgium

The host for the 6th round of the Belgian nationals was the club of Genk, MRG. Located next to the famous karting circuit and hoping that the weather would be good, the Efra drivers ran there qualifications under varying conditions. Olivier Bultynck, for the sixth time champion, placed his VBC on pole position, in front of Nick Joosens and Nicolas Delisé. In the first final it was Olivier who slid his car in the second corner and lost the lead. Nick went away followed by Rico Claeys and Olivier. Olivier had to fight back and overtook Rico with a nice move. Meanwhile Nick was in the lead with a gap of more than 2 seconds. But Olivier was fast and in the last lap he was on Nick’s tale. Nick kept his coolness and took victory in front of Olivier and Rico.

Honigl & Kreil takes wins at Austrian Nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the Austrian Nationals were held on the high-speed full concrete track of the ERT Steyregg. Only because of the unique surface were racers able to practise on Saturday even if it was raining most of the day. On Sunday the weather was a lot better and the track was dry the whole day. Hupo Honigl took the TQ spot in 2wd ahead of Peter Pinisch with Team C team mate Martin Kreil in 3rd. 4wd qualifying was even better for Team C with Hupo taking the TQ with Martin in 2nd and Marcus Prihoda in 3rd. The mains had some good battles and in the end Hupo would win 2wd in front of Martin and in the reverse order for 4wd. With this result Honigl was able to secure the overall National Championship in both classes with one race to spare.

Levin & Ronnefalk win titles at Swedish EP Offroad Nats

The Swedish 1/10th offroad Nationals were held at MHC Skarpnacks near Stockholm on their high grip astro turf surfaced track. In the 2wd class on Saturday it was Kyosho star David Ronnefalk, fresh from his Euros win in Germany the previous week, that took the top spot in qualifying head of Team C’s Oskar Levin in 2nd. Oskar took the win in leg 1 ahead of Niclas Mansson (Associated) and Ronnefalk, while in leg 2 it was a bad run for Levin taking 4th with Ronnefalk with the win and again Mansson in 2nd. This setup a showdown for A3 which Oskar won to take the overall win and Swedish title. Mansson was again 2nd with UK driver Simon Moss (Schumacher) 3rd. The result gave Ronnefalk the runner up position with Mansson taking 3rd. In 4wd David Ronnefalk would take the top spot in qualifying again ahead of Levin 2nd. David would this time convert his grid spot into the win, wrapping up the overall win and title with victory in the first two mains leaving Oskar to win the 3rd main and take the runner up spot with Mansson again taking 3rd overall.

Jörn Neumann double at German Nationals

The German 1/10 Off-Road National Championships were held last weekend in Duisburg and despite the wet conditions that plagued buggy practice and the qualifying rounds during the first day of the two day competition, Jörn Neumann was able to take TQ in both the 4wd buggy and 4wd SC classes. The recently crowned European Champion was unchallenged in the finals for both classes and was able to take a clear win in both. Fellow Durango driver and designer Gerd Strenge was also able to take the win in the stock class giving Durango the win in all three classes.

Drew Moller double at Mugen Seiki GP series Rd2

This past weekend saw round two of the Mugen Seiki Grand Prix series held at Heritage R/C Park. It was a pretty laid back weekend with a total of 60 entries. Both classes, buggy and truggy, saw Mugen racer Drew Moller take the TQ spot. In Buggy Drew had a good early battle with fellow Mugen racer Carson Wernimont but after some motor issues for Carson he was able to edge his team mate out for the win. In the Truggy Main it was an easy victory for Moller, after getting the holeshot he never looked back.

Mark Gilliland takes finale win to claim Irish title

The final round of the Irish Nationals went ahead at Craigavon last Saturday despite the threat of rain all day which in the end never appeared. Qualifying was a close affair between all the competitors on the day with Mark Gilliland taking TQ over Andrew Smith who had to fend off several challenges from Graham Kenny throughout qualifying. In the end after the three legs it’s congratulation to Mark Gilliland for taking the victory at the Final Touring Car round of 2014. This victory also gives Mark the overall win in the Championship over Alan Bickerstaff. Coming in second on the day was Andrew followed closely by Graham. Both Graham and Andrew were fighting it out for 3rd place overall in the Championship which after this round’s results are added to the series giving the 3rd to Andrew on a count back.

Mike Gosvig wins Danish 1/8th EP Nats Rd5

The round 5 of Danish national 1:8 electric buggy was held in Hillerod, on a nice and new track build for this year and Mike Gosvig wrote the following report. ‘The track is huge and have som good technical sections, high speed, low grip, medium grip and high grip. The day before the race I had very good set up and XB8E was outstanding, but as we come to race in the morning, the track was very wet because of heavy rain in the night, the race was delayed for 2 hour to track drying, after that the race was on! I have change some weight in my car for better balance in the air and won the qualy.

Pietsch wins 2014 200mm European Championships

The 2014 EFRA European Championships for 1/10 200mm took place earlier this week in Valencia, Spain. Qualifying saw former European Champion and Mugen onroad designer Robert Pietsch take the top spot ahead of the Serpent duo of Dominik Greiner and reigning Champion Alessio Mazzeo, with Shepherd’s Simon Kurzbuch completing the top 4. In the first semi final it was HB start Teemu Leino fresh from his final at the 1/8th offroad Euros who took the win, and would start the 45 minute main final from pole position thanks to his fastest time, ahead of Alexander Thilo and Simon Kurzbuch in a race that saw Dominik Greiner failing to finish and ending up 10th. In the second semi final Robert Pietsch would take a close fought win ahead of Swiss 1/8th specialist Simon Kurzbuch in 2nd with reigning Champion Mazzeo making it through in 3rd. This semi-final would see big names Groskamp, Balestri and Dankel all fail to finish to 20 minute race.
