sat_ronaldTQ

Team Yokomo’s Ronald Volker marked his 30th Euro Touring Series participation with his 15th overall TQ of the championship when, despite running on used tyres, he topped qualifying in Luxembourg for a 3rd time. Having been the class of the field in Q1 & 2 on new tyres, Volker oversaw a much closer challenge in Q3 to take the round by almost 1-second from the new rubber shod Tamiya of Viktor Wilck. Switching car for the penultimate qualifier turned around the fortunes of Kyosho’s Christopher Krapp who, having struggled to make the Top 10, was able to produce a Top 3 run just ahead of new Team Magic signing Leo Arnold and Team Durango’s Elliot Harper.

Volker gets spun but still takes Q2

sat_volkercar

Even after being spun round by Marc Fischer, Ronald Volker was still able to take the second round of qualifying at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg. Another glorious day at Mini Circuit “Ville de Luxembourg”, the result which was 1.6 seconds off his Q1 pace set in cool conditions looks set to give the Team Yokomo driver his 15th overall TQ of the championship as conditions for Q3 & 4 are expected to be hotter making for a slower track. Behind the reigning champion, local French star Lucas Urbain backed up his Q1 performance with another strong showing, second enough to secure VBC Racing driver a spot in the A-Main. The second of the four qualifiers would see a big improvement from Alexander Hagberg as his Xray took third ahead of the Tamiya of Jilles Groskamp, the Top 4 all having the benefit of using new tyres.

The 2nd round of the Hungarian nitro on-road championship was held in Pécs which is one of the oldest but still the most active RC track in the country. The track recently got a new higher rostrum for a much better view, so everybody was looking for some improvements in lap times, which finally came up to the expectations in each category. 1/10th 200mm proved to be the most exciting class of the weekend since 4 to 5 drivers where on the same pace. Qualifications were held under changing weather conditions and the 1st round of qualifying turned out to be the “rocket” round as some rain showers hit the track just before the 2nd leg. With time being too short to completely regain traction until the last round meaning only a few drivers were able to move up in the grid during the day.

Elliott Boots wins at BRCA E8 nationals Rd3

Elliott Boots wins at BRCA E8 nationals Rd3

The 3rd round of the BRCA Truggy and E8 nationals was run in Wakefield, North Yorkshire last weekend. The all dirt track is also playing host for the Nitro national championship round 3, so it was also a good time to be getting practice and test tyres in readiness for that Championship round. In E8, 1/8th Electric Buggy, Kyosho’s Elliott Boots was able to TQ 2 of the 3 rounds of qualifying which would give him the overall TQ and pole position for the main A-final later in the day in which he was able to make a clean break at the start of the race. He then started to give himself a good lead over Darren Bloomfield, who was chasing hard but after a few minutes into the race Elliott was able to pull a comfortable lead and was able to manage his final, which he would then win after nearly lapping the whole field. With 3 wins from 3 rounds for the series and only 2 more rounds left to go Elliott has also taken the national series adding another British championship crown to his CV.
