Kurzbuch & Loppini win 2021 Trofeo Construttori

Last weekend the prestigious Trofeo Construttori was held at the famous Mini Autodromo Jody Scheckter Fiorano track with some of the world’s best drivers in attendance. Team Shepherd took the victory and the constructors title in both major classes making it a perfect weekend for the German manufacturer. Simon Kurzbuch RC had some difficulties in qualifying and lined up 5th in the grid of the final. But in the main his performance was on point and during the race he climbed up the ranking step by step until he was in first position. After 30min of high class racing Simon took the victory in front of Lamberto Collari and Mirko Salemi in 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the 1/10th class Shepherd factory driver David Loppini was able to win 3 out of 4 qualifiers and claimed the pole-position for the main final. Starting from the front David was able to pull away immediately and after 30min he crossed the finishing line in first position in front of Alessandro Balboni in 2nd and Valerio Righi in 3rd position.

Dimitris Ioannidis crowned Mod TC Greek Champion

Last weekend the second round of the 2021 Greek Nats in Touring Modified and Stock classes took place in the fast but also technical track of Modelodromio Patras. In the Modified class, Dimitris Ioannidis (Awesomatix) took pole position in front of Filippos Isaakidis (Tamiya) and Kostas Sidiropoulos (Mugen Seiki). Ioannidis was able to capitalise on his TQ spot winning the first 2 legs against title rival Isaakidis awarding him the overall win and securing his 1st in this class and 3rd overall Greek Championship with one race remaining in the 2021 championship having already won the first 2 races.

Branson & Murray win Rd4 while Jefferies secures title

The Cotswolds track hosted round four of the BRCA Touring Car series, a venue popular with UK drivers with a great layout and a good mix of fast and slow corners. Coming into this round the modified championship looked well within the grasp of Xray driver Olly Jefferies, given the way the points are allocated Jefferies would need just one more A final win to retain his modified title but there was strong opposition in his way from the likes of Chris Grainger, Kyle Branson and Zak smith, all four drivers had shown good speed in testing and this one looked hard to call.

BRCA 1/8 Circuit Halifax Rd5 – Report

The British weather played a big part in the latest round of the 1/8 Circuit series hosted at the newly resurfaced Halifax circuit in the north of the UK recently. A bumper entry was in for the weekend’s racing with both nitro and electric classes competing. The electric class gaining popularity again with many newcomers and returning drivers attracted to the class. Saturday saw heavy rain with most drivers not going onto the track for timed practice. Sunday started similarly with rain fall and standing water on the track, it was to be a day of tricky conditions and a mostly damp track which never really fully dried. Qualifying was to come down to one round where conditions were somewhat better so pressure was on drivers to ensure they got a respectable time in.

Carbognani & Mecugni win Italian 1/12th Rd3

The third round of the 2021 Italian Championship dedicated to 12th scale classes took place this past weekend in RC Landia, Scandiano. The race was held under the official safety protocols that ACI Sport (the Italian R/C Cars Federation) has agreed with National Authorities in order to allow full safety for all participants. In GT12, which in Italy is traditionally run according to the popular BRCA rules, Guido Carbognani repeated his impressive performance that saw him win Round 1 and 2, and took another dominant win that allowed him to stretch his lead in the Championship further. Carlo Alberto Conti took second place, while Alessandro Giubbilei, third.

Schumacher SOOM Series Rd4 – Report

This past weekend was the fourth round of the fantastic SOOM series, there was once again a great entry of drivers present. The race format was round by round qualifying, with the best 2 results from 4 rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position. The Southport team had designed a fantastic track layout for both days of our event. The mixed weather was present on Saturday but it was dry and sunny for most of Sunday. Finally as some travel restrictions have been lifted, it allowed both Michal Orlowski and Jorn Neumann to get across to the event. In 2wd qualifying it was Neil Cragg who would take TQ to line up on pole. Tommy Hall would be 2nd and Luke Holdsworth would line up 3rd.

Essex Winter Series 2021/2022 Announcement

The well-known Essex Winter Series (EWS) championship has announced the details of it’s special 10th Anniversary Season. Set to take place over 5 rounds at EWS’s indoor venue in the south-east of the UK, there will be classes for Modified, Super Stock (13.5 blinky), Sportsman Stock (17.5 blinky) and Front Wheel Drive. The EWS team are pleased to welcome Rush as the tyre partner for the Touring Car classes, as well as welcoming back Ride for the FWD section. Full details on the series, including dates and detailed rules can be found on the EWS website. Entries are now open via the website, but you should be quick – the series is expected to fill up very soon.

Venue & date change for GTS Race #2

The organisers of the GTS series have announced a venue and date change for their 2nd race of 2021. Originally set to take place in Leno in September, the venue has been changed to the World famous Gubbio track in central Italy from the 2nd to 3rd of October. Following a successful first event at the Autodromo di Vallelunga in June in which Bruno Coelho took the double for Xray, the 2nd and final race of the year is expected to draw an even bigger entry as travel restrictions continue to be lifted.
