Völker wins again at ETS Rd2

ETS Rd2 took place at Arena33 in Andernach, Germany last weekend, only four weeks after RD1 at the same venue. With 173 entries in the six ETS classes the event started with a free practice day on Thursday and a great weather forecast for the whole weekend. As always at the ETS, the race included 4 rounds of qualifying followed by triple mains for everybody. In the Matrix Modified class, a dominant Ronald Völker took three out of four rounds (with one DNF) of qualifying with his LRP powered Mugen Seiki car ahead of his strongest rival Marc Rheinard who qualified second on the grid with his Awesomatix. Yokomo`s Christopher Krapp took third on the grid followed by Oliver Havranek (Xray) and Yannic Prümper (Yokomo). Völker never looked back after the start of the first and second A-Main and won both heats without any mistakes in front of Rheinard. With Völker sitting out A3, Marc Rheinard took the win in the last modified final ahead of Yannic Prümper who finished second to secure third overall on the podium. For Ronald Völker it was the fourth consecutive ETS race win and his second in a row with his new Mugen Seiki team.

BRCA Clubmans Rd4 Coastal Ipswich – Report

Round 4 of the BRCA Clubmans took place on the East Coast of England at Coastal Model Car Racing Club. This is the smallest track on the calendar which many liken to Monaco due to the tight confinements of the track and layout. The club made a huge effort in the weeks before the meeting and the track looked fantastic in the Ipswich sunshine. Four qualifying rounds for all classes and Craig Nutting eventually took TQ in the Frontie Class, but local driver and race director George Fairweather kept him honest all day long taking the round two win looking to be the only challenger, so it was anyone’s guess what the A Final outcome would be.

Schumacher Outdoor Off Road Masters Rd3 – Report

This past weekend was the third round of the fantastic SOOM series, there was once again a great entry of drivers present. The race format was round by round qualifying, with the best 2 results from 4 rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position. Then everyone has 1 final except for the 3 legged A finals. The Herts team had designed a fantastic track layout for the event, many racers were pleasantly surprised to see such a great track and facility. The layout was changed quite substantially between 2wd and 4wd. In 2wd qualifying it was Lee Martin who would take TQ in 3 rounds to line up on pole. Jamie Hall would be 2nd and his brother Tommy Hall would line up 3rd.

Daniel Kobbevik double at Norwegian Nats Rd2

Round 2 of the Norwegian Nationals was held at the technical and bumpy astro track ‘Radoy Raceway’. This is on the west coast of Norway, so weather can change fast and be pretty bad, but this weekend was warm and nice weather. Every thing was organised well and it was good amount of drivers and fun in the pits. 2wd qualifiers started Saturday morning and Daniel Kobbevik was in his own league, taking the TQ in all four rounds. That meant Daniel could start from pole with his Hobbywing/Sunpadow powered Xray XB2. In A1 Daniel pulled away right away and lapped the whole field. In A2 Daniel was hit by a car in the start and when Daniel tried to get passed, he was taken out again, falling down to 5th place, and had to work the way back to the front but still managed to take a comfy win. This gave Kobbevik the overall win ahead of Yokomo driver Adrian Sognestad in 2nd and Vincent Rûger with his Xray in 3rd.

Jefferies & Murray win Rd3 of BRCA TC Nats

With the track at Halifax being recently re-surfaced drivers arriving for round three of the BRCA Touring Car series were keen to test the new grip levels but the British weather scuppered that as rain fell for the entire day. Getting the best out of his Xray and mastering the wet conditions Olly Jefferies was fastest in all four rounds of qualifying and took a comfortable TQ. Despite dominating qualifying everyone was expecting close finals as the constant rain was leaving no margin for error. Early on Jefferies pulled a small lead ahead of second place man Chris Grainger, then around the two-minute mark the Awesomatix driver was on the back of the Xray.

Schumacher Outdoor Off Road Masters Rd2 – Report

This past weekend was the second round of the newly organised SOOM series, there was once again a great entry of drivers in the 2wd class on Saturday. The entries for 4wd on Sunday were a little lower than we had hoped for, mainly due to several racers having to cancel due to Covid restrictions. The race format was round by round qualifying, with the best 2 results from 4 rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position. There is usually 1 final for all competitors and 3 leg A finals. However due to the lower entry numbers in 4wd, we decided to have 3 leg finals for everyone, so more racing and track time. This was well received by the racers. The Mendip crew had designed a fantastic track layout for our event, a huge thank you to them all for their hard work and dedication.

BRCA Clubmans Rd3 WLRC – Report

Round 3 of the BRCA Clubman’s was hosted at West London Racing Centre in Hillingdon last weekend. The weather fortunately held out for this meeting with torrential rain predicted, which only arrived once some excellent racing had finished. With a very good entry of 43 drivers in the 17.5 Blinky class we were in for some close racing with many of the country’s top drivers present. Schumacher driver Andy Murray was the man to beat, but after taking 3 round wins he was proving unstoppable as he lined up P1 for the final. After 2 torrid A final legs it was a clean sweep for Andy making it a perfect day’s racing taking the win ahead of the Xray’s of Ben Cane and Soteris Lisai.
