1st Annual South Florida Winter Champs – Report

Coral Springs RC Track hosted the first annual South Florida Winter Championship and they did not disappoint. Friday morning racers were greeted with a fresh new layout and amazing weather. Without a cloud in the forecast racers began to arrive early Friday morning for early practice and to get there cars dialed in for the weekend. Saturdays race program would bring 3 qualifiers, rocket round style and some fierce competition with over 190 entries. By mid morning the track was well grooved and racers qualifying times continued to improve. Sunday the dust was settled and the mains were set.

Brand & Moon win at Tennessee State Championship

Brand & Moon win at Tennessee State Championship

ROCCK Raceway located in Knoxville, TN hosted the Tennessee State Championship bringing in over 150 entries from Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky and other surrounding states. JConcept’s Shay Brand was able to TQ in Pro eBuggy with his Mugen MBX7-Eco. In Pro Buggy Shay was able to finish up qualifying 2nd overall, behind Cole Ogden, running his MBX7. Mark Moon was able to TQ in the Open 2WD Short Course class and later took his TQ spot to victory. In Pro eBuggy Shay Brand converted his TQ position into a win while finishing 2nd in Pro Buggy.

Matias & Coelho win at Portuguese off-road nats Rd2

The 2nd round of the Portuguese 1/10th electric off-road nationals took place at the GodinTT race track with 18 entries in 2WD and 27 in the 4WD class. The track proofed to be very challenging with its high grip astroturf surface and loads of bumps. In the 2WD class Miguel Matias pretty much dominated the competition and he took quite an easy win as he did in round 1. Nuno Roque and Arnaldo Guedes completed the top 3 result.

Jerome Sartel wins at RCMag Brushless Tour Rd1

The first round of the French 1/8th electric off-road championships, called the RC Mag Brushless Tour, took place last weekend at the multi-surface track of Sucy-en-Brie. Of the 150 drivers 124 attended in the E-buggy class forcing the organisers to run 14 car heats in order to finish the qualifiers and finals in time. Agama’s Jerome Sartel was the man to beat in the buggy and truggy classes as the took the TQ in the 6 minute qualifiers and while he won four out of the four finals in the truggy class, the buggy race was a bit more exciting as he battled with Renaud Monin and Stephane Deroch for the win. At the end Jerome came in 1st in the second and fourth leg handing him the win in front of Renaud and Stephane. In the truggy class Philippe Schlafmunter and Antonio Carvalho completed the podium. The 1/10th short course class had Stephane Deroch taking the win from Samy Fevre and Julien Offenburger. The next round will take place in Montpellier on the weekend of the 13th of April.

Adrian Berntsen wins TC at Norwegian nats

The 2014 Norwegian Championships was hosted by the Spydeberg Motorklubb in the small village of Spydeberg. The race saw round-by-round qualifying with the best two of five to count. Xray’s Adrian Berntsen was able to secure the TQ by winning three of the five rounds. Petter Berntsen TQ’d two rounds handing him P2 for the finals in front of Rune Svestol. In the A-mains Adrian cruised to the victory quite easily, nearly lapping Petter. Rune Svestol completed the all-Xray podium in the Touring Car class.

Ashton takes GT12 national title

Ashton takes GT12 national title

The 6th and final round of the 2013/14 BRCA National Series was held at what some consider the home of 1/12th scale racing, the Shirley Park Leisure Centre, Clay Cross, Chesterfield. In the GT12 championships both the Saturday and Sunday title was still up for grabs. The Saturday title could be won by either defending champion Chris Ashton or his Schumacher team mate Jamie McDonagh. Round 1 saw the Mardave of Jonathan Dixey set the fastest time with the Schumacher of Jamie McDonagh setting the next quickest time but with his car failing scrutineering, this would move Chris Ashton up to 2nd place and Alex Thurston into 3rd. Round 2 saw Chris Ashton move to the top of the time sheets with Jonathan Dixey dropping to 2nd place and Matt Lax into 3rd.

2014 Danish Indoor Junior Club titles – Report

2014 Danish Indoor Junior Club Championship

The Brondby Racing Club held the last of 5 races to crown the 2014 Indoor Junior Club champions. The championship is run in a Touring Car Modified, Super Stock and Stock class and saw Stefan Finnich taking the overall title from Lars Holm and Mesut Ocak. Michael Johnson and Nicolai Lindegaar completed the top 5 of the Modified class. In Super Stock, Patrick Danielsen brought home the overall win in front of Claus Ryeskov and Casper Morgan. Christian Lehm and Willy Lehmann ended the series in 4th and 5th respectively. In the Stock class Jack Helge Sorensen was crowned the 2014 champion, Jannick Jacobsen and Jeppe Svendsen finished 2nd and 3rd. John Clausen and Michael Kilbinger Hansen completed the top 5.

John Michael doubles at March Madness race

John Michael doubles at March Madness race

The March Madness race at The RC Pit saw John Michael taking the win in Pro Buggy following an exciting first part of the race. While being in front he got hung up on a pipe where there was no marshal which allowed the 2nd and 3rd driver to catch up and John fell back to 2nd place. 4 laps later John regained the lead and he was able to take the win. Griffin Hanna finished 2nd. In E-buggy John Michael followed closely to the leader Griffin Hanna for the first 4 minutes of the race. Once the leader made a mistake John Michael got past and stretched out his lead over the next 6 minutes to take the win.
