Daniel Wohlgemuth wins Pro Stock at German nats

Daniel Wohlgemuth wins Pro Stock at German nats

This past weekend the 2013 German Nationals took place in Leipzig. The huge track was altered slightly to make it more challenging which proofed to be dangerous but successful. Germany not only breeds top modified drivers that fill up half the A final at international races on a regular basis but also sets the stage for the big boys in Pro Stock racing. At this year’s nationals up front there were the two ETS frontrunners Toni Streit and Daniel Wohlgemuth fighting for TQ with a couple of other drivers in the mix. In the end it was Daniel who managed to grab TQ honours ahead of Toni and Florian Botzenhart. In the finals Daniel showed great skills by winning the first two legs and therefore the 2013 national title. In A3 the runner up spot was up for grabs. In the end it was Florian Botzenhart who managed to win the final leg taking the vice championship.

Patrick Hofer wins 4WD Modified at Swiss nats Rd4

Patrick Hofer wins 4WD Modified at Swiss nats Rd4

The fourth round of the Swiss 1/10th buggy nationals took place at the dusty and slippery Dielsdorf track that recently received a new and very tricky double jump. Team Associated’s Patrick Hofer dominated the 4WD qualifying and took TQ with his B44.2. For the A finals Patrick decided to take the risk and take the dreaded double in one jump and this got him a clear win in the first final leg. Come the second final Hofer got into trouble early in the race when crashing and dropping back the field. But by taking the double in one leap every lap he was able to shorten the distance to leader Peter Forster and he eventually overtook him by using the double to pass the Yokomo driver. This handed Patrick the overall win on front of Peter Forster and Patrick Vogt (Team Durango).

The 6th round of the Jimmy Babcock Racing League Electric Series made its first stop at the new Rainman’s Hobby and Raceway in Bakersfield, California. In the 2WD Modified class it was all Numedahl and his B4.2 Factory Team with Centro mid-motor conversion. Cody dominated the competition, taking the TQ by seven seconds and winning the main by half a lap. In the Truck Modified class, Kevin Motter and his T4.2 Factory Team got out to a good start and took over the lead early, never to relinquish the number 1 position on way to the victory. In the 2WD 13.5T Buggy Super Stock class, Nick Wautlet started from the second grid position, but made quick work to take over the lead on the way to victory. Next up is round 7 at Palm Desert R/C Raceway the weekend of September 14.

Much-More UK GP – Report

Much-More UK GP – Report

Last weekend the Much-More UK GP English round took place at the CRMCC circuit in North West England. The English round combines with a Scottish round, which was held at the Stonehaven circuit in June, to determine the overall series champions. There were over 50 entries this year and some overall series trophies were up for grabs. The practice day on Friday and qualifying on Saturday and Sunday morning saw persistent rain and a wet weather track which meant the new Volante control tyre would have to wait until the finals on Sunday afternoon before being bolted onto the cars.  The vast majority of drivers managed to pick up points from the four qualifying rounds required in the difficult conditions and then switched to the control tyre for the finals as the track quickly dried out. In 13.5T John Simpson brought home the victor with Callum Keith and Chris Mitchell completing the podium. In the Spec class Paul Davidson was the day’s winner in front of David Walter Fraser and Joe Herring. Last but but least the Mini class top three sees Paul Davidson in front with Keith Anderton and Chris Briggs in tow.
