Keven Hébert wins 1/12 Mod at AOC

The 2013 Asian On-Road Championship, fresh off a successful debut in Shanghai, headed down under to Melbourne, Australia for round number 2. The AOC is the brainchild of Scotty Ernst and follows a similar format to the popular European Touring Series. Good competition in a relaxed atmosphere with generous track time packed into a compact schedule is the name of the game. The Melbourne round featured a 1/12 Modified class which was perfectly suited for the temporary carpet circuit which was laid out on a perfectly smooth gym floor. A healthy field of the top Australian drivers, many who have never raced carpet and/or 1/12 before were thrown into the deep end to compete against Canadian champion Keven Hébert. Keven and his Reedy/LRP-powered 12R5.2 qualified fastest in every round and also won all three legs of the A Main. Thanks to Keven’s assistance to his teammates and privateers, he was able to guide teammates Sandy Iavazzo and Darrin Campbell to second and third overall for the podium sweep.

John Ermen wins Dutch on-road nationals Rd4

The 4th round of the Dutch 1/8 on-road nationals was held on the very small and tricky circuit of MBC de Sluis in Gouda. This year the track received a new layer of asphalt and a new fence to protect the spectators much better because small mistakes are easy to make here. John Ermen was the only driver to set a 22 lap qualification time followed by RickV, Steven Cuypers and Robin d’Hondt. Still they had to drive the semi finals to reach the main final, that was no problem although John did face a moment of problems loosing some laps but he was fast enough to reach the main final.

2014 IFMAR 1/12th and ISTC Worlds update

The organisers of the 2014 electric on-road Worlds got in touch with the following update on the track situation for the 1/12th race and some general information.

A few weeks ago it was announced that Full Throttle Speedway in Kissimmee, Florida would be hosing the 2014 On Road Worlds. It was determined that this would not be feasible. The 2014 IFMAR 1/12th and ISTC Worlds will be held on asphalt. As part of a series of track improvements leading up to the Pre-Worlds and IFMAR Worlds. The Full Throttle Speedway team has confirmed that the repaving of the track is complete. This investment was made to ensure that the facility would be in world class condition to host the event. The surface is curing now and a new, revised layout will be put in place shortly. More details to come.
