Alexander Hagberg wins 2013 Snowbirds

The Snowbird Nationals can be regarded as one of the biggest RC races in the world with 400+ entries in multiple classes, including the US oval classes. All are run in a 6 days long event which is held in Orlando, Florida. Racers gather from all over the world at this big event. Notable names from the European and US racing scene were present this year. Just like last year, Alexander Hagberg decided to join the race with T4 and X12 platforms, hoping for strong results in both Modified categories. Xray were represented in all categories, where the US drivers were strong contenders in the stock classes.

Gulf Coast Raceway has been especially popular of late, due in no small part to its successful bid to host the ROAR Fuel Nats this year. Not that drawing entries to this gem of a facility in Porter, Texas has ever been an issue; but with each event held there serving as a warm up for the Nationals, it’s no surprise that this past weekend’s first round of RC Pro’s Texas State Series was stacked with the region’s fastest and those chasing them. Nearly 250 entries vied for hardware and prizes in Open and Intermediate classes of nitro and electric buggy, nitro truggy, and Pro4 short course.

King & Drake win Revelation Winter Nationals

King & Drake win Revelation Winter Nationals

Cody King took the win at Revelation Raceway’s Winter Nationals held last Saturday. TLR’s Adam Drake TQ’ed both rounds of buggy qualifying running the new 8ight 3.0. Starting on P1 Adam Drake led the first lap but suffered a disastrous lap 2 & 3 as he dropped to 12th position, 13 seconds back from leader Cody King. Drake pushed hard and would climb back to 2nd but Cody ran clean laps and took the win by 8 seconds over Drake and Mike Truhe, who was running a new TOP / Novarossi engine package, finished third. Jeremy Kortz would end up retiring with six and half minutes left on the 30 min clock. Pro-Line locked down the podium with all three drivers running Holeshots. Adam Drake took the win in the truck class at the Winter Nationals. Drake TQ’ed both rounds of qualifying in the track class and lead the 20 minute final from start to finish. Tyler Brown finished third also running a TLR 8ight T 2.0. Adam used Pro-Line M4 Holeshots to take the victory.

JConcepts Scalpel GP debuts at Village Raceway

Village Raceway in Royal Palm Beach Florida along with JConcepts debuted a new, one of a kind racing event recently featuring the new Scalpel conversion for the Traxxas Slash 4×4 and Rally 4×4 vehicles. Racers were on their A-game taking their vehicle setups seriously trying to find that magic setup to put them in the top spot. It wouldn’t be a South Florida R/C event without rain, right? Well, even the Scalpel Grand Prix is not exempt from Mother Natures’ watermark. After an hour rain delay, track crew and racers got busy drying the track.

Racing Lines Summernats report

Racing Lines Summernats report

The Racing Lines Summernats is held every year towards the end of January at IMCC’s track in Wollongong New South Wales Australia and Tim Lee sent this report. The format includes practice Friday, nitro racing on Saturday and EP classes on Sunday. The track is one of the most flowing technical layouts around and always attracts a good entry list and makes for close racing. Entry numbers were quite high this year and it was great to see a lot of new faces. In nitro there were close to 50 entries over the open and pull start classes meanwhile in EP there was close to 100 entries spread over F1, 1/12th scale, 21.5, 17.5 and modified.

Cavalieri claims the 19th Reedy Race on tie break

Ryan Cavalieri has won the 19th Reedy Race of Champions, the Team Associated driver did just enough in the final round of racing to win on tie break from Team Losi Racing’s Dustin Evans.  The podium after 3 days and 12 rounds of racing at West Coast RC Raceway was completed by outgoing champion Joern Neumann.

Evans & Cavalieri continue to share lead at RROC

Dustin Evans and Ryan Cavalieri still share the lead of the points table at the Reedy Race of Champions as the pair got the final day of the event underway with a win a piece this morning at West Coast RC Raceway in California.  The other win in Round 3 of 4WD went to Ryan Maifield who yesterday had a terrible start to the 4WD section of the competition when he had 9th place finish in the first round.

Cav & Evans set to battle for 2nd Reedy Race title

Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri and TLR’s Dustin Evans look set to battle it out for the honour of securing their second Reedy Race of Champions title tomorrow after the results of the Day-2’s closing round of races at West Coast RC Raceway left the pair equal on points.  Running in the same race in the second round of 4WD, Evans finished 2nd behind defending champion Joern Nuemann while Cavalieri crossed the line fourth behind team-mate Ryan Maifield.  The other two races of the round saw wins for TLR’s Mike Truhe and Kyosho’s Jared Tebo.
