Hartson & Motter win at JBRL series finale

This year’s eights and final round of the Electric JBRL was held at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, CA. There were two rounds of rocket-round qualifying and one 6-minute main event, all run on Saturday. Racers showed up on Friday to get some practice for the racing on Saturday. As always, there was a good number of racers getting in some laps. The track layout was the same from the Reedy Truck Race a few weeks before and had good flow and great traction for how early in the event it was. Saturday morning brought overcast skies and slightly colder temperatures than the practice day before. But the weather didn’t seem to hamper the traction or racing. It looked to be another great day of racing if the rain managed to stay away. In the Truck Modified and 2WD Modified classes, Steven Hartson started second behind Mike Truhe. A patient Hartson shadowed Truhe for the entire Truck Modified main event only to finish a few tenths of a second behind at the finish line. In 2WD Modified, Hartson got around Truhe on the first lap and never looked back. The Team Associated driver lapped almost the entire field on route to a dominant performance.

Evans wins Short Course ending Durango’s reign

Team Losi Racing’s Dustin Evans brought Durango’s domination of the 4WD Short Course class in the Euro Offroad Series to an exciting end as he claimed the overall win in the third and final A-Main at the 2012/13 season opener in Poznan, Poland, ahead of defending champion Joern Neumann.  Having won the class at the EOS pilot race in Sweden and all three rounds of the inaugural season of the series, the first sign that Team Durango’s reign was under treat came in qualifying when Evans used his Losi Ten-SCTE to TQ qualifying.  Predicted to be the best racing of the day the small grid of trucks didn’t disappoint with an epic battle in the first A-Main which saw Evans Orion powered truck take the win in a drag race to the finish line with Neumann, the American doing just enough to snatch the win from the German who had led the previous 9 laps.

Joern Neumann has wrapped up the overall win in 2WD Buggy at the opening round of the TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series presented by Horizon Hobby. The German was declared winner of the second A-Main following an incident on the penultimate lap when original race winner Dustin Evans was deemed to have not waited appropriately following an incident coming off the table top on to the main straight.  Evans had taken the win by 7/100th from Neumann but on reviewing video footage of the race the American was demoted to second with the Top Qualifier declared the winner handing him the overall win.

Neumann dominates 4WD Buggy in Poznan

Unbeaten in 4WD Buggy en route to becoming the inaugural TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series Champion, Joern Neumann looks set to add to his tally of consecutive wins after the Team Durango driver dominated qualifying at the opening round of season No.2 of the series today in Poznan, Poland. Securing the overall TQ honours in Q3, the European Champion stamped his authority on the class when he completed a clean sweep of the time sheets by topping the fourth & final heat with the fastest 5-minute run of the day.  Closest to Neumann during the day was team-mate Hupo Hönigl who in the penultimate qualifier got within 5-seconds of the German.  That run, Honigl’s fastest of the four heats, secures him second on the grid ahead of fellow LRP/Durango driver Benni Gröschel who showed well in Q1 and Q4 when he was second fastest behind Neumann.

Surprise Short Course TQ for Evans at EOS Rd1

Team Losi Racing’s Dustin Evans pulled off a major surprise in Short Course qualifying at the opening round of the 2012/13 TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series in Poland as he ended Durango’s domination of the class becoming the first driver apart from Joern Neumann and Hupo Honigl to take overall TQ honours.  Improving his Losi Ten-SCTE every heat the American found his rhythm in Q3 & 4 topping both rounds to become Top Qualifier ahead of Neumann who was fastest in Q1 and Honigl who was fastest in Q2.  Having been a class apart last season in 4WD Short Course with Losi’s drivers never a serious treat, in Poznan Evans has completely reversed the tables.

Neumann 2WD Top Qualifer at EOS in Poland

Joern Neumann is the 2WD Buggy Top Qualifier for the opening round of the TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series presented by Horizon Hobby after he made it three TQ runs from four in the final round of qualifying.  Dustin Evans, the pace setter in Q1 and only driver who could deny the defending champion pole for tomorrow’s finals going into the final heat, looked like he might get the job done after a mistake by Neumann but 3 laps later the American rolled his TLR at the end of straight loosing a massive 6-seconds. Finishing second 4-seconds behind the Durango driver, Evans will line up on the No.2 spot on the grid with team-mate Darren Bloomfield, who got his first 17-lap run in Q4, set to start third.
