Delaunay wins Rd5 as Christiany takes French title

The 5th and final round of the French 1/8th Classique championship took place on the brand new Ingrande track last weekend. There was very good weather but the track conditions were not very good and so it was quite difficult to find the right set-up. Local driver Romain Delaunay found the perfect setup and put his Motonica on pole position ahead of Serge Christiany in 2nd and Julen Mathieu in 3rd. The beginning of the 45 minute final was difficult for Romain Delaunay and ended up at the back of the field but he fought back and took over the lead at the half way point in the race. Both Serge and Romain changed rear tires during this final and that is the order it would finish as Delaunay took the win 2 laps in front of Christiany in 2nd while Jean-François Rouanet was 3rd. This result gave Serge Christiany the French National title.

Thanks to Jeff Rouanet for the report.

In the National qualifications it was Maxime Tenet, Stéphane Bertrand and Faisal Affejee taking the top three places. In the Elite class it wasn’t until the 3rd round of qualifying when Richard Volta, back after a one year break, set the pole position time. Martin Bayer takes Rd4 of Czech offroad nationals

Last weekend the 4th round of Czech Nationals took place on track Dolní Bukovsko and Martin Bayer wrote this report. Club did very good job preparing this track for nationals. They totally rebuild track for this race and it was medium grip with a blue groove and many very fast corners. The Czech championship has 5 races in total I had already taken the overall championship title. We ran two classes, 1/8 nitro and 1/8 electric off-road. In both qualifications my cars were excellent. During practice I made set-up which was very good and I stuck with it until the end of the race. I was the only driver who made 10 laps in qualification in both classes and had the overall TQ in both classes. On Sunday we had finals. I won the electro class, leading the race from start to finish. In the nitro class I didn’t give any chance to the other drivers. I started nitro class from pole position with great pit strategy and perfect run I won with 3 lap gap.
