Volker TQs important opening qualifier

Ronald Volker has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying at the Touring Car World Championships in the Netherlands, the Team Yokomo driver running 18 laps in 5:09.314 to top the round by just over a second from the HB of Atsushi Hara with Viktor Wilck’s Tamiya taking third.

Wilck tops final practice in Holland

Tamiya Racing Factory’s Viktor Wilck has topped the official timing for final practice at the Electric Touring Car World Championship as he took his prototype TRF417 around the high speed MACH track in the fastest three consecutive laps ahead of Ronald Volker and Atsushi Hara although over 5-minutes it was Volker who ran the fastest time with 18 laps in 5:09.745.

Swiss nitro on-road champs Rd5

The recent fifth round of the Swiss nitro on-road championships took place at the permanent track in Schaffhausen. The Saturday and therefore the practice sessions where highly affected by the poor weather with loads of rain that called for the prepared rain chassis. Also the qualifiers where distracted by the rain but Biernat, Martinelli, Pesenti and Albanese got everything together in the 1/8th Expert class and took the top 4 sports. Come Sunday morning the weather showed a completely different side with loads of sun and mild temperatures. Bumping up from the semi B where Luca Martinelli, Henzi Thomas, Reto Felix and Christoph Pethoud.

Italian nitro on-road championships Rd2

The second round of the Italian nitro on-road championships took place at the track of Leno and it was Capricorn driver Giorgio De Lelici who set the fastest time in Friday’s practice. Team mate Francesco followed with the second fastest time. After the 10 minute long qualifying races the time sheets saw Alessio Mazeeo in front of Biagio Sparato and Guiseppe D’Angelo. The A final started dry but the weather forecast announced rain in the second half of the final and with already 36 minutes in the main rain started to pour down meaning drivers had to switch to wet tyres. At the end it was Francesco Tironi (Capricorn/Capricorn who won the Expert class some three laps ahead of his teammate Giorgio De Felici (Capricorn/Novarossi) and Guiseppe D’Angelo. The F1 category went to Stefanizzi (Capricorn/Gimar) and in F2 Bonsignore (Capricorn/Capricorn) was able to take home the win.

Controversy hit Worlds but Volker still fastest

Major problems with technical inspection as the first round of controlled practice had just got underway led to chaos at the Touring Car World Championships that has resulted in a round of qualifying being cancelled although that move has been protested by Japan, the Netherlands and Germany.  Once action on the track did resume it was the morning’s pace setter Ronald Volker who set the fastest lap, consecutive 3-laps and 5-minute run keeping his LRP powered Yokomo at the top of the time sheets.

Volker’s stuns rivals with blistering early pace

Team Yokomo’s Ronald Volker has left his rivals scratching their heads in early practice at the Touring Car World Championships in the Netherlands with the German setting a fastest lap time that was over 4/10th faster than that of the next quickest driver which was Tamiya’s Viktor Wilck.  How impressive Volker’s pace is can be seen by adding the time difference between him and Wilck to the Swede’s time which covers the Top 30 drivers, former champion Andy Moore set the 30th fastest lap with a 17.482.

Austrian nitro on-road nationals Rd4

The fourth round of the Austrian nitro on-road nationals took place at the MORAC track in Graz, the venue of the 1/10 IC EC-A in 2013. Heavy rain on Saturday meant that only one driver tried tackle the first round of qualifiers and even the Sunday started wet, although under better conditions. As the rain stopped the track became more dry every round and nearly all drivers did their best to qualify as high in the ranking as possible. The third and final round of qualifiers took place under nearly dry conditions but mechanical problems for many of the usual top drivers meant mixed up qualifying results.

Tebo wins 15th Annual HRH Shootout

The 15th Annual HRH Shootout was held July 19th to 22nd at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, California. The weather was very typical for the Shootout being in the upper 90’s all weekend long putting controllers, motors, and batteries to the ultimate test. This year’s event brought in over 300 race entries. In the Modified Truck Class it was TLR factory driver Dustin Evans taking the TQ honours. In A main number 1 TLR’s Dakotah Phend went on to take the win over his teammate Dustin Evans by one second. Steven Hartson finished 3rd. A main number 2 saw Kyosho’s Jared Tebo taking the win from the fourth starting position. Steven Hartson finished second and Dustin Evans in third. In the deciding third A main Steven Hartson would take the win, Tebo finished second only .4 seconds behind, and Dustin Evans finished third. With both Tebo and Hartson finishing with a first and second in two of the mains, the title would come down to combined laps and times as the tie-breaker. After everything was added together, it was Team Orion/Kyosho’s Jared Tebo taking the Modified Truck overall win by .1 second.
