2020 Ohio State Championship – Report

The Ohio RC Factory played host to the 2020 Ohio State Championship last weekend. The event attracted nearly 100 entries and in Pro Nitro Buggy it was Joey Bourdon (Tekno) with the TQ and also the overall win in the 30-minute A-main event. Joey would swap positions with Collin Weatherholt (Mugen) throughout the race and would bring home the title by a narrow 1.06 seconds. Ralph Krumme (Agama) came in 3rd overall to round out the podium already two laps behind.

Johnson & Jeppesen win at Stickit1Racing Mod Series

Round 5 of the Stickit1Racing.com Modified Series was hosted by PDX Underground in Portland, Oregon yesterday. Held in 2WD Mod and 4WD Mod Buggy classes it was Yokomo privateer, Joseph Johnson with the win in the 2WD Mod Buggy class from Team Associated driver, Ryan Reavis on the runner-up spot. Yokomo USA team manager, Joe Pillars came in 3rd overall. Over in 4WD Mod Buggy it was Daniel Jeppesen with the win from Jim Meyer in 2nd and Sean Pham in 3rd.

Adam Drake wins at Thunder Alley club race

Thunder Alley Raceway of Beaumont, California hosted a 90+ entry club race this past weekend with Mugen’s Adam Drake coming out on top in the Open Nitro Buggy class. TLR’s Anthony Westergaard ended the day in 2nd overall from HB Racing’s David Carracci Jr. in 3rd.

Davide Ongaro wins at Asti By Night race

The Pista D&R Race track in Castelnuovo Calcea, Italy held their Asti By Night race event this past weekend with some of the fastest Italian 1/8th off-road racers in attendance. In the Nitro Buggy class and when the dust had settled it was Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro with the win from Infinity’s Riccardo Berton on the runner-up spot, a lap down after the 30-minute A-main. Young Alessandro Scaramozzino (Team Associated) finished on a popular 3rd place, another lap behind. Leonardo Valente and Alex Zanchettin would round out the top 5 result.

Maggs & Tumilty win at NDOR Summer Series Rd1

NDOR Notts & Derby Offroad RC Racing in the UK held the opening round of their Summer Series this past weekend. 26 drivers booked in to race and 25 turned up with the biggest E-Buggy turnout seen at NDOR for a very long while. For social distancing purposes the organisers split the drivers into a 9 Nitro Buggy heat, 8 E-Buggy heat and a mixed heat of 8. The race saw four rounds of heats and dominating Nitro through the qualifiers was Andrew Pritchard who also claimed the TQ. In E-Buggy it was Ewan Tumilty and David Corden battling in out between them.

Kay Frehner wins at Alpencup Rd2

The RCSF Singen club in southern Germany played host to round 2 of this year’s Alpencup series. In the 2WD Buggy class Kay Frehner took the overall TQ and he also came out on after the triple A-main events, leaving behind Noah Kaufmann and Stefan Sidler in 2nd and 3rd respectively, making it an all-Team-Associated top 3. The 4WD Buggy class was won by Elias Ehrmann from Markus Wegmann and Sven Koller while the Stadium Truck class saw Stefan Sidler take the winning honours from Silvio Pietroboni in 2nd and Tyas Wuillemin in 3rd.

Ron DeVoll doubles at JBRL Electric Series Rd5

Round 5 of the JBRL Electric Series as held at Controlled Chaos Raceway in Palmdale, California this past Saturday. The event attracted over 160 entries and in 2WD Open Buggy it was Team Associated’s Ron DeVoll with the overall TQ and also the win in the single 6-minute A-main event. Ron’s Team Associated team mate, Davey Batta came in 2nd overall while Carlos Arredondo rounded out the top 3 result.

Lex Tyler in control at Heat Wave Series Rd3

Round 3 of 5 of the Heat Wave Series was held at Ripon RC Speedway and Hobbies in Ripon, California this past Saturday with 83 entries for the multiple electric on-road classes. The premier class of Touring Modified would see top qualifier, Lex Tyler taking home the win from veteran racer, Rick Hohwart in 2nd, who ended the single-leg 5-minute A-main only 1.1 seconds behind. 4th place qualifier, Aaron Lewis would complete the top 3 result from Kyle Colbert in 4th.
