Reeves is Stotfold Winter Series 2wd Champion

Last weekend was the last round of the popular Stotfold winter series. With quite a few of the top national drivers in attendance all practicing for the national which is now only a month away it was to be a busy day but with good weather, a great end to the series. After 5 rounds in the championship with the best 3 results to count in the series it came down to the last races of the day to decide both the 4wd and 2wd championships. In 2wd it was to be Simon Reeves driving his Losi 22 powered by Xcelorin, Spektrum and Speed Passion that came out on top to take the 2wd series. After qualifying 2nd just behind Ellis Stafford and suffering some bad luck at the start of the final Simon managed to work his way through the field to finish 4th which was just enough to secure the 2wd series. In 4wd a 2nd on the day after having a great scrap in qualifying with a charging Kevin Lee was just not good enough to secure the 4wd title, meaning John Spencer took the 4wd title on count back as both Simon & John tied on points.

Martin Crisp takes Canadian On-Road Champs

Last weekend was the annual Canadian On-Road Championships which is uniquely held in a shopping mall with the intent of further exposing the hobby to hopefully attract more drivers. Martin Crisp filed this report. “This event was put on by a longtime friend of mine, Mark Frechette, and has been growing year over year.  The space limitations of the mall meant the track would be small and technical, but I have always like technical tracks. Even though this is a Canadian Championship race we had some fast USA drivers like Mike Haynes, Dave Johnson and others join us to make this a bit of a Can-Am challenge. The small track and driver line-up made for some great qualifying and racing.

There weer 30 drivers in the Elite Class and 47 in the National Class and dry but cold and windy conditions greeted all the drivers.
