Hard & Fransson win Swedish Championships 2011

The racing club in Vaxjo hosted the 2011 Swedish 1/8 scale and 200mm nitro on-road championships. After practice on Thursday Friday it was time for qualifying on Saturday with Markus Hellquist taking TQ in the 200mm class with his Serpent 733 followed by Mikael Fransson, Per-Ola Hard and Tomas Andersson, all of them driving Serpent’s 733. In 1/8 scale Mikael Fransson (Serpent 966) took the TQ honours, followed by Niklas Johansson (Mugen),  Patrick Sahlin (Mugen) and Marcus Lindner (Serpent 966).

Paul Lemieux wins 2011 US ROAR on-road nationals

Xray got in touch to tell us about their recent success at the 2011 US ROAR on-road nationals. Xray team driver Paul Lemieux was able to take TQ in the Modified class after four rounds of qualifying outperforming RC-Car legend Rick Hohwart and team mate Kevin Hebert. In the finals Paul made a clean sweep by winning both the first and second A main securing him the title and Xray the 33rd US national championship. Second place went to Rick Hohwart with EJ Evans completing the podium in third place.

Adam Drake sweeps Leisure Hours Raceway Summer Sizzler

TLR factory driver has won both the 1/8 scale nitro buggy and truggy class at the recent Leisure Hours Raceway Summer Sizzler in Joliet, IL. In the buggy class he won ahead of TLR drivers Chuck Berg and Daniel Yachnin, all of them driving the TLR 8ight 2.0. With the truggies it was again Adam who left the competition in the dirt with Chuck Berg taking second and Jimbo Kvidera in third position.

2011 ROAR Electric Nationals – Thursday Practice

Nor-Cal Hobbies is located in Union City, Ca. (Just minutes south-east of San Francisco) and is your host of the of the 2011 ROAR Electric Nats. The facility boasts and indoor carpet track, outdoor asphalt track, not one but two off-road tracks and a well-stocked hobby shop. The larger of the two off-road tracks is where the event is being run and the indoor carpet track has been covered to allow for ample pitting out of the sun. In store for today are 2 rounds of controlled practice. The heats are 6-minutes in length and drivers will be seeded for qualifying on Friday by their fastest 3-consecutive laps during their runs.

Lars Hoppe wins Northern German regionals

The 4th round of the Northern German 1/8 scale on-road regionals took place a the tricky track of the MSC Polizei Braunschweig. On Saturday the traction was not very high at first but after the organiser had sprayed some sugar water the track conditions became better. In the afternoon the first round of qualifying was held with Andreas Giesa (Serpent) taking the provisional TQ just a few tenth in front Hoppe (Sheperd). Unfortunately on Sunday the weather was unsettled and light rain showers affected the rest of the qualifying. Hoppe could win his semi-final and claimed the pole-position in front of Andreas Giesa and Timo Schröder (Shepherd).

Victorian State electric off-road titles report

The Victorian State electric off-road titles were held in Mildura, Victoria Australia on the 6th and 7th of August. Drivers from all over Australia attended this great race meeting to claim the prestigious Victorian titles. Classes held were 2WD Stock, 2WD 540, 2WD Mod, 4wd Stock, 4WD 540, 4WD Mod, SCT, Truck Stock and Truck Modified. With over 190+ entries the racing was split up over twee days with 4WD and Truck on the Saturday and SCT and 2WD on the Sunday.

McEwan wins Canadian Off-Road Champs Rd2

The 2nd round of the Canadian off-road championship series (CORCS) was held over the weekend of August 5-6-7th, in Coquitlam, British Columbia Canada. Team Durango’s DESC410R took the 4WD short course A-Main in the hands of Norm McEwan, with Kris Bychyk placing his DESC410R in 2nd place for a 1-2 finish – beating out a large field in the 4WD class. Both guys ran their DESC410R’s with the Tekin RX8 controllers and Tekin 4.5T SC4X motors to sweep the field.
